Being an American Yid, Dempsey is admittedly a hero of mine so I might be biased, but...

...I am floored by this statement. I do see how CD is slagged on here and I have been wondering (honest question, not trying to be a smart ass) - does he get closer scrutiny because he's a Yank? If he were European, would the opinion on him differ at all?

Just curious.

i don't care where he's from, he is an average to poor footballer but fortunately for him he has a knack of finding the net.

He's the type of player that isn't flashy and fulfills his role perfectly yet take him out the team and you have a big void to fill.

is sandro flashy then? i rate him very highly. i have no idea how paulinho "bossed" the midfield in any of these games, i barely noticed he was playing until he fouled someone. he can run and he can seemingly get the odd goal, on the basis of these four games he doesn't have a whole lot else to his game. average tackler, average passer, average control/technique. i saw exactly why we paid £16.6m for modric but for this guy i'm struggling, i just hope his performances at club level are of a higher quality than what i've seen so far.
