Just wondered if it would be good to have a thread for this and peoples thoughts on it. Everything seems to be going well at Spurs right now but if there is one 'issue' lurking in the future it is surely recruitment.
Paul Mitchell is still working for us but is supposedly leaving in December, a strange time as this is just before the window opens, now assuming he is still playing a full role he could still be identifying players for Pochettino and Levy in preparation for the window but it's a strange situation. I must confess I wasn't too concerned with PM leaving when it was announced in August but since then Son has looked great and Wanyama looks like the best defensive midfielder in the league.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how this might play out or knowledge of what Spurs plan to do, is it possible Tottenham are still making moves to keep Paul Mitchell? Rob Mackenzie has already left as head of player ID and gone to Derby does anyone know if David Webb is still at Spurs? (I see that he is having just checked)
The argument could be made and it is one I largely agree with that the squad is very close to complete to the point where recruitment is not in truth that important. We need a creative player like Isco and you don't need a team of people to tell you that. Equally all our success over the last decade has been built on good recruitment where we get value for money so you would think we don't want to step away from that and having a group of people who can identify players.
Also it is fairly clear we have a group of players just beneath the first team who we need to bring through (JO,HW,CCV,ME,CCV) so this could well be a reason why we are letting recruitment take a back seat.
I should add here, it is absolutely vital Pochettino gets the system he wants, I'm not saying we need a team of people who work above him.
Anyone got any thoughts?
