I like the look of Daka, but not for 40 million. There’s too small a sample size against too questionable a quality of defender for fees like that. Bergwijn was 27 coming off 3 seasons of very good numbers in a much better league at around the same age.

Lille, and it was about €30m I think.

We don’t know if that was €30m up front or made up of different amounts. If we pay €40m for him you can guarantee it won’t be all that up front. We’d want to make sure that part of it would be down to different achievements etc.

I don't think no one have to worry over us paying a too high fee with Levy pulling the strings.
Also did you see the game against Liverpool? VVD looked like a schoolboy against him.

Dragon this morning when asked again if it's Daka:

It’s not and I keep seeing Dakas name everywhere but what concerns me is we a million per cent bid for Watkins so if he’s got that wrong (Ally) how good is his info

the other player is very similar to Daka in age and appearance we would be buying insane potential

What he is saying about Ali Gold is wrong because all Ali Gold said about Watkins was that we were interested in Watkins but we werent willing to get into a bidding war and go above 20 million. That's literally what happened.

I know Daka is definitely 1 of 3 players that I am aware of, that we are very interested in, but thats all I know. Here is a little high level stat report on him.

Patson Daka (21) – Forward – RB Salzburg

  • Although it is the Austrian league, he has scored 24 goals in 34 games, all from open play. That is an average of 1.2 goals per game, all non-penalties higher than all Malen, Firmino, G.Jesus, Mbappe and ilk of his age group
  • Most of the goals he has scored are within the penalty area (22) which equals top Prem goal scorer Jamie Vardy (22) and he has a conversion rate of 29% that is almost double when compared to G.Jesus (17%) and Firmino (12%) and on par with to P-E. Aubameyang and Vardy
  • With a shooting accuracy of 62%, this betters all of Aguero (51%), Firmino (55%), Ings (57%), to P-E. Aubameyang (59%), and G. Jesus (59%). Donyell Malen (65%) and Jamie Vardy (63%) only better this.
  • On average, Daka has 2.5 shots on target per game equalled to Donyell Malen, versus his next competition from Premier League Aguero with 1.8 average per game
  • Conversion ratio of 29% is only beaten by P-E. Aubameyang on 30%, and Vardy (33%) however has a higher conversion rate of almost double to Firmino (12%) and G. Jesus (17%)
  • In comparison to Premier League top goalscorers (Vardy, Aubameyang, Ings), Daka has a joint top Aerial duals successfully won with Vardy at 35%
** Daka to me looks like a younger version of Drogba, with pace, directness and a clinical finisher inside the box. I believe he would easily be attenable for around £20 million

The first stat is wrong. So I stopped reading.

This potential transfer would be logical and make so much sense. Therefore, it’s not going to happen.

I might start playing transfer bingo with the same cliches that roll out.

There were similar game highlights for Damiao playing for the full Brazil side against Argentina. Would be a huge gamble at 40 million. To put into context - that’s twice what Haaland cost, and more than either Salah or Mane cost in a climate where you can sign Doherty for 12 million due to the pandemic.

I get that strikers cost more, but 40 million at the moment is a huge number. That’s twice what City paid for Ferran Torres a couple weeks ago.

He was also playing for RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga, not RB Salzburg in Austria.

So there's an inflation for playing in a better league right there.
So what you’re saying is that RB Salzburg will likely sell him to RB Leipzig first in order to maximize his value if others are unwilling to pay it?

It's amazing how clubs have an MO they follow - especially those who are run under the same umbrella.

This is why he won’t cost 40m. People are just picking that figure out of the sky based on YouTube highlights.

Haaland, Minamino, Keita, Kampl and Mane are just names that played in the Austrian league that no one "heard of"...
May as well throw Dayot Upamecano on that list as well.

Seeing as he’s quite possibly viewed as the best young CB in world football at the moment.
