Maybe I watch games differently these days, while Palace had the ball did they really test Hugo? Were the crosses dangerous or comfortably dealt with for the most part?

Until the penalty I didn't think they would score to be honest. They couldn't hit a barn door at that point.

I think the Skipp injury is largely irrelevant, he's either fit or he isn't. The change of Gill in immediately makes us more balanced and pushes us up the pitch. We got so lucky to get to ht 0-0 and why that sub didn't have the trigger pulled I don't know.
Either cowardice or tactical inability.

I think we should have more depth up top, but I think it had almost zero impact on the game. What lost us the game was the complete cowardice of playing Winks, Dele, Skipp and Hojbjerg in midfield.
Which Is a point I’ve made on a separate post. My post regarding the striker situation was a dig at the club once again to getting in a second striker that we will need during the season. No doubt about that. Just another missed opportunity to strengthen.

But we didn’t even seriously test there goal keeper in 90 minutes!!

Had we lost to Palace with:

Lloris
Emerson Dier Sanchez Reguilon
Hojbjerg Lo Celso Alli
Moura Kane Son

then yes I would be furious but we had a make shift defence, no creativity in central midfield and missing 3 wide forwards… the result hurts but given the circumstances I would have been happy with a draw. To lose when down to 10 men and with little options is to be expected. All that matters now is how we bounce back albeit we may have to wait until several of the missing players are back in the team.

Hugo saved one point blank first half, second half Rodon got a massive block on one, dele got a massive block, reguilon had headered one off the line. They had chances tbf

Connor Gallagher could’ve had two more goals had it not been for a save on the line by Hugo and a lunging block by Dele.

This was Palace for God’s sake, and a vulnerable Palace too, not Chelsea. If he’d set up like that for Chelsea I would understand (I would still expect more from the players) more.

No ambition, not good enough. No game management, no quality, no intelligence.

I wasn’t expecting much from Nuno and always thought he would be gone at the end of the season at best. Nothing has changed my mind. The first 3 games have flattered us. The football has been uninspiring and not enjoyable.

We are miles and miles from the top 4. I don’t think we’ll finish in the top 6. If that’s the case I’d at least like to entertained every now and again.

Even if we sack Nuno, can any of us face another debacle for the search for the next cheapest manager who isn’t bothered about their reputation being tarnished. Mason might be expecting a call.
Theres not a lot he could have done other than picked Bryan and kept Dele in midfield.

In hindsight he probably would.

But let's not pretend he had loads of attacking options today.

Crystal Palace are exactly one Benteke away from being a top half team in my opinion. Now they signed Edouard they will be putting away a lot more chances.

No, you were having a dig at your fellow supporters. A dig that made no sense in the context of the game.

This result is on nuno, too pragmatic and not a positive change.

Also tanganga was stupid, diving in after just being booked, especially with John moss in charge. Shocking ref.

That one was totally on Nuno today. Yes, we have injuries and players on quarantine, further injuries and the red card made matters worse, but that midfield lineup by Nuno was fucking criminal. We know what PEH and Skippy can bring to the party but FFS, surely that has to be Winks last ever start in our shirt. There were poor performances all over the park today don’t get me wrong, but that surely must end any debate about winks.
I'm not disagreeing with you per se, Tony, but Nuno isn't responsible for the terrible midfield - that falls on the recruitment side. Our central midfield is woefully underpowered.

We know, it's a truism, that games are won or lost in midfield. But we have no options there. There were no senior players we could have played in the middle today apart from PEH, Skippy and Dele. And I'm not offering that as a defence of anyone. It's an indictment in fact - that our recruitment has been abysmal for far too long now.

What's the point of spending money on the next big central midfielder (Sarr) if we don't have enough in the middle right now? The striker issue is a lesser problem. The central midfield is where the biggest problem at Spurs lies and it seemingly wasn't even looked at this summer.

Here come the anti Levy Brigade ?

With the circumstances surrounding the build up to this match this is not a surprise result. We lost keyplayers to injury whilst on international duty, and one who played today not fully fit. Of course our clubs decision to allow players to travel to avoid sanction backfired when FIFA let others who did not do the same off the hook. We were away up against a team who had most of their squad training together for the past two weeks. BT Sport were setting this up nicely for Palace, starting with their selection as the early game straight after an international break. The writing was always on the wall In my view.

Clearly we did not play well after first 5 minutes, but mass changes to starting 11 aleays likely to cause problems. The cause not helped by a first half injury, a second half red card which was largely down to the referee failing to spot a foul on Moura just before the first yellow card. In fact in my opinion the referee let far too much go throughout, several players should have seen yellow in the first half. Palace eventually got their reward, and of course out come the anti Levy Brigade in numbers, spouting the crap we hear after every defeat. So predictable, so boring. To call for the manager to go already us pathetic! Equally so some of the comments about Royal who up to a point had a reasonable debut in my view

Kane and Dele need to take a look at themselves and quickly. Their attitude on tge pitch does not look good. Nuno has to learn from this defeat.

Anyone thinking we should just splash the cash each transfer window just take a look at how that approach has worked out in the past for Leeds, and more recently Barcelona and Real Madrid. I do not want us to build success on stolen or blood stained cash. Levy is not perfect, but he will get us to the best financial position without the mass appeal of United / Liverpool, or a rich owner happy to throw cash around like confetti. He has just been appointed to the European Club Union board, a very powerful position in European football, which should bring some long term benefit to the club. He is almost certainly going nowhere. The haters need to get over it and get behind the team. All the negativity after just four league games is not good.
