Real Madrid, Barcelona and five other La Liga clubs were ordered Monday by the European Commission, the European Union's executive arm, to repay money to the Spanish government over various instances of the state providing aid to them.

European champions Real Madrid, Spanish league champions Barcelona, Athletic Bilbao and Osasuna were ordered to repay state tax credits given to them by Spain that date back 20 years.

The initial sum total was estimated to be €68.8 million euros, according to Spanish media reports.

Finally.... We all know Madrid and Barca have been receiving "help" from the government. Finally someone step in to put a stop to them...

Now if we can only get them to stop club owners pumping millions and millions into their "hobby"

Seems very low. Barca and real madrid have been considered "charities" for the last 20 years paying almost no tax. Add in the land sale they should both be paying hundres of millions back.

It's a start I guess. Seriously never thot it will happen.

Hopefully new regulations will be in place. And they won't be able to bully teams into selling their stars.

It's a start now onto West Ham...
No problem for West Ham we are leaving the EU. Maybe Spain will negotiate opting out of these regulations, along with French clubs and others. EU messing with internal arrangements should not be allowed!!!!!
