Having watched all 3 games it really confirms what we all knew from last season - Bale, Modric, VdV, BAE & Dawson are all quality players. Most of the rest that came on tour are pretty average. None of our strikers are good enough to play for a top 6 side in the premiership.
I would safely say that we have a couple of top class players in Bale,VDV,Modric and King(when fit)possibly Sandro..........Gallas,Gomes,Ekotto,Dawson and Kaboul are all pretty good players.......Walker and Rose are just starting out....Pienaar hasn't been here long enough.....the rest can be upgraded on and would not be missed.
Crouch,Defoe,Pavlyuchenko,Keane,Bentley,Hutton,Corluka,Kranjcar,Bassong,Dos Santos,Lennon,Jenas,Huddlestone and Palacios.
Was at the game yesterday and just a few things I picked up
1) Walker - he was very poor defensively, its the first time I've seen him and his positioning was awful. He played some great through balls though and linked up well with Lennon IMO
2) Thudd - looked lazy and stagnant and just had a poor day out - I'm a massive fan but he looked unfit again
3) Pav - was awful too, can't recall any highlights from him yesterday - his first touch is remarkably poor
4) Crouch, kranjcar and palacios looked disinterested and were pretty sloppy on and off the ball - very frustrating
5) Lennon looked a lot slower than the last time I saw him live (Dec 2009) but thought he had a great 1st half was very involved
6) Pienaar just looks on a different wavelength to everyone else and is holding on to the ball way to long. I've seen him play for SA and Everton many times before and he is far better than we've seen in a spurs shirt .
7) BAE was awesome, great game and really looked composed and reliable the whole game.
8) Modric, Bale & VDV were a class above anyone else on the field. We CAN'T lose any of these players for any price!
Was a nice entertaining game, but one spurs definitely didn't dominate and the score line was very flattering - we look very predictable and had a lot of holes in defence. Pre season though so all is for given I guess
Lastly Defoe shat himself when the fireworks started going off at the end, was hilarious - he ran for his life towards the bench, well funny
Massively flattering result for us.
They did what we did so often last season, good tidy approach, some clever play but no finishing.
Van the Man is going to be the key player for us this year even if Modrich stays. He is a step ahead of everyone else and wants it more than anyone.
Needs to curb his temper, though it does indicate that he cares even in a pre-season game.
Defoe took his 'tap in' well.
Can't understand the hostility to Pav. The only one of our strikers that links play and takes up good positions.
Touch is positively Crouchlike though I agree.
