In terms of Chelsea not dealing with us especially when we are a direct threat to them for a top four place, perhaps it is just they really want Piatek and know if they don't get him he is most likely coming to us. So from their perspective this would be the lesser of two evils. Probably not happening, but a potential spin.

Starting to get a feeling we’re going to be left with egg on our face with this one. Chelsea would fuck us over at the last minute, while they sign Piatek.

FWIW on the Gards thing, he hasn't actually linked this mystery player to Giroud's agent as far as I can tell, people are just running with it. Possible to have more than one agent at the club at any one time.

We only have ourselves to blame, had the whole month to sort out this position & now were left scrambling against time

Do you think Chelsea and John Terry give a fuck about winning all their trophies despite the Terry and Bridge fiasco? If you want a perfect group of players to win clean trophies then this isnt the sport for you.

I can tell you are down and feel that if you can’t beat the bad guys then why not act like them?

it’s at times like this you need your faith the most. Luckily I’ve got enough faith for both of us and I will pray for you.

You have tattoos don’t you? Not good but I’ve got some good news for you.

Me and Jesus forgive you.

No from me, they Guy’s legs have gone, there’s a reason he’s not getting game time at Chelsea. A couple of years ago I would’ve gone for it.

Scored last year countless goals in the Europa League, still scores for France, can hold up the ball, knows the league and the city.
An absolute yes for me for an 18 month deal.

Maybe the club just view him as a bridge to Parrott? Give Parrott a loan this year and next (renewing the contract, too, would be a big part of this) and come his age 19/20 season, positioned with some real experience when Giroud's contract is up? Just a thought.

Chelsea, in the midst of their own striker crisis, sell one of their only 2 fit strikers to their hated rivals and one of the top contenders for top 4?

Not a chance. Even if they do replace him I'd be stunned if they did a deal with us.

Piatek seems to be slipping away as more clubs show firmer interest. Giroud might be worth a punt, but I am of the opinion that Chelsea would stop such a deal.

As long as he’s not our only target, Chelsea will string us along until Friday then pull the plug leaving us with no one

I would imagine we sounded out say 3-4 top targets and are playing each of them off against each other until one piece of the domino moves then we strike for the best option, transfers are way more complicated than just 'sorting that position out this month'. I'm pretty certain we will bring a striker in and hopeful it will be one of the best options possible to us.

If you want a visual insight into transfers watch the leeds united documentary on Amazon Prime, Daniel James was in Leeds office with the CEO for the whole day with the contract in front of him only for the deal to fall apart at the last minute and Daniel James to go the Man.U the next summer, Leeds thought they had it all 100% sorted but so many moving parts involved in transfers that its rarely the case unless you are a Man.City, Real Madrid, PSG etc and can throw such obscene amounts of money at all the parties involved that it wipes out all chance of anything but the deal happening.
