This is the frustrating thing mate. I was told we had agreed a deal in principle. Reports now coming out of Italy suggesting the same but clearly it isn't as straight forward as that. Shows how info can be correct at the time of passing but it can also change very quickly.
Deals change, stakeholders move demands all the time. It's a part of negotiations.

The info you pass is appreciated, fully understand it is a snapshot in time, and the only constant is change ?

Logging onto SC daily, and seeing the Zaniolo thread sit constantly at the top of 'Today's popular posts' had me thinking...

What other player threads have received this much traffic without the player actually signing?

Surely Leandro Damião springs to the front of most peoples minds, but are there any other less obvious threads which I've missed?

Mateo Musacchio who was at Villarreal at the time and dominated a summer of SC transfer speculation before he whimpered off to Italy and signed for AC Milan. He had an irrational amount of people posting their new-found love for a relatively unheard of
Argentinian.
Dybala was over 300 pages I think.

Arshavin had about 2 threads 200+ pages I think

It sounds like Italian teams like to agree a deal verbally and then try their luck at asking for more again after. Maybe it's just posturing , hopefully we find out soon. Still 3 weeks left of the window so time to get another attacker if this one falls through.

I have not said anything different. Just added more meat to the bones, that’s all.
Apologies if I'm wrong but I thought you said we had everything agreed with Roma? Whereas trix said they won't budge on their demands?

Again apologies if this isn't correct.

Personally think if we are offering an Obligation for 40/50 million euros Roma will deal. European clubs are financially in the gutter and that’s a lot of cash. Don’t blame them for trying to squeeze more out the deal.

My take on this is that Mourinho has decided Roma will be more likely to win stuff with Zaniolo in their team and is convincing the player and owners to sign him on a new contract but they will unlikely be able to match our offer and we need the player to want to come to us. However, I imagine Mourinho has told Zaniolo he’ll be a starter for him and a super sub for us.

Roma would have to match his wage ambitions on a new contract. What we offered him is a ridiculous amount compared to what he is on now. And I have not heard Mourinho is demanding he stays. We agreed everything (terms) with Roma last week. We did not expect him to play Saturday. There are contingencies in place. Them materialising is a different matter. But his agent is pressing for his client to get him here. Now you understand the ‘impasse’.
So essentially there’s not much else we can really do unless we decide to up our offer which probably won’t happen. I wonder what made them change their minds if everything was agreed in principle. I guess it’s down to him and the agent to decide if they would be willing to renew with Roma.

Likely I'm thick, but I don't understand the impasse?

Deal agreed with club, Mourinho not blocking it, player wants to come, agent pressing. What's the impasse?

There have been many. Ones already mentioned but

Guiseppe Rossi
Luis Fabiano
Skriniar
Moutinho

would be a few that spring to mind
