Oh and we do not have to ship out before another comes in. We are actively trying to achieve both, so whichever happens first just happens.
I'm speculating here, but I imagine that us getting people in first will help make it even more clear to some players that they simply aren't going to play and should find a move.

I know they'll have been told that anyway, but I'm sure it will help focus their minds about the reality of the situation.

I think he's exactly the right player for a team where the head coach has identified him to be exactly the right player.

I just don't know what that means in terms of, well, actual football-y stuff...

That’s fair enough but this is a message board for people to state their opinion, it becomes a bit boring when people get shat on for any opinion that contradicts what the coach supposedly wants or thinks

I think if someone put a poll up listing all our new signings this window and stuck him in there too, and the question was who will make the biggest impact in their first season, I reckon he'd get the least votes- maybe alongside Forster

Conte wants him mate, I don't think we need to complicate things any more than that. Especially as Conte will know how he's going to set up and use him, and we do not.
Jeez, I am flabbergasted that you and others have to make these statements time and time again, in the real scheme of things we supporters no nothing about anything, and most of our opinions are just that, opinions with a sprinkling of speculation! Are people really losing their hair over whether we have to sell before we spend or, whether we need Zaniolo or not?

I agree with you. After all, we're not here to provide recommendations directly to Conte. We can both accept that he knows more that us, whilst also expressing differing own views and questioning his decisions. I think some people find that to be unsupportive, but honestly it's just part of what it is to be interested in football isn't it?

Why are you even thinking about Bissouma, Bentancur etc. Zaniolo is not a central midfielder, and is not a CF, but he is perfect for a RWF in a 3-4-3. Especially when the width and crossing will come from an attacking WB, allowing him to focus on playing in the channel and running with the ball at defenders. I think Conte does not think Gil is ready (he hasn't shown much in friendlies) and sees Zaniolo as the competition for Kulusevski's spot. Richarlison is competition for both Son and Kane (and is not as effective on the right). Conte also clearly sees Moura as a RWB at best now.
Totally disagree that he only sees Moura as a RWB at best off the basis of a few preseason matches. Lucas also played as a forward vs Rangers, or did you forget that? I definitely think Lucas is an option for the forward spots… weird take.

Which is a shame bc I fully agree with the rest and that Zaniolo has a very obvious fit. That’s not at all the issue with him, he’s a round peg in a round hole in terms of positional comfort. An athletic ball carrier and dribbler is a pretty obvious want of Conte’s and Zaniolo is nothing if not that.
What we're lacking is a link man, an Erikson position so we can stick with Kane up top and still have Son as an alternative forward - ie not have to rely on both Kane & Son through the centre.

Zaniolo is not that player!
I agree and disagree. I would also say that while Conte has never played with an obvious “link man” CAM behind the striker, he also has rarely played a 3-4-3; both of his Inter/Juve teams were more 3-5-2 or 3-4-1-2 type set ups, Tevez/ Lautaro playing as more traditional second strikers behind the big Llorente/Lukaku.

At Chelsea he did use a front 3 to devastating effect but the “link man” then was obvious, in Eden Hazard. And by the same token, I’d argue that our “link man” at least in build-up is also obvious. His name is Harry Kane. And to a lesser extent (this is more potential than it is reality) Dejan Kulusevski, who conveniently has played in the #10 role earlier in his career and was viewed as a central prospect for Sweden/Parma.

I and lots of others on SC prefer Maddison/Paqueta over Zaniolo but it’s not because of tactical/positional reasons, it’s because I think they’re better at football…

Think that depends on how that opinion is put across. Its when people state with absolute certainty their opinion like its a cold hard fact that it becomes galling.

If it was a little softer like "IMHO this isn't the player for us because i dont see him playing in any of Contes systems based on what i've seen of him previously"

As opposed to "this guy would be the worst signing he cant possibly play in any of Contes formations"

What the funny ones? ?
I just don't really get how it's funny.

We all trust Conte but just because someone has a different thought or opinion on a player I don't understand why they're labelled a FIFA champion or Football Manager professional.

Lots of people watch lots of football. I only watch the prem but I watch probably 200-250 games a season so if we were linked with Max Cornet for instance, I could give a good representation of the pros and cons of signing him.

Other people watch Serie A or La Liga so may have seen him play enough to provide a good insight, if they have, surely we should welcome the insight rather than dismissing their views as a FM Pro, and even if their insight is from football manager, it's surely a better insight than simply agreeing that we should sign the player because Conte wants him?

I have not watched him often, but if he is for sure over his injuries, he is the nuts.

From Enrico Camelio who is apparently very reliable for Roma

"Before the friendly between Roma and Tottenham there will be no negotiations between the two clubs and no medical examination scheduled in London"

I assume he's responding to a rumour about a medical but no idea where that originated.
