No matter where we finish come Sunday evening we are in amazing shape for mounting a serious title challenge next year.
As it stands 3 of the top 5 will have new managers and be going through some sort of transition. It could well be 4 if Wenger decides to jump ship for psg( although I think he'll stay for the reason stated above)

We've added a stubborness and refusal to be beaten attitude this year, if we can build on that with a little more forward flair n creativity then the sky's the limit

For the 1st time in a long while it looks like we will have consistency going into next year, quite probably not losing any players we don't want to.

There simply hasn't been a better time to push on and really challenge next season, 2 or 3 of the right people to add to a squad that's on its way to getting our highest points tally in the premiership and we could finally be there.

Fingers crossed we have champs league to look forward to as well but either way I don't think I've felt this optimistic in a very long time.

If we add some creativity to the midfield and that top class striker, and then yeah, I'll jump on the optimism train too.

I almost posted something similar last night, I think there is a potential perfect storm at Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all replacing their managers that could lead a Champions League playing Spurs, with a few choice AVB signings to having a realistic tilt at the title

whilst I agree with a lot the OP says in terms of being close'ish, the frustrating thing is that to make the quantum leap required to become a title challenger or even to cement ourselves in the top 4 we need to add true proven quality in at least three positions and I just dont see Levy investing that type of money.

All I can say we look like we are going the right direction.
As new players needed? Not a clue, as I don't know what money is at hand and who is willing to come to us.

I'm sick to death of all the "if DL does this or that" He will continue you do what he sees as the best thing for the club 'his company own', of that I have no doubt. To think otherwise is banal in the extreme.

Calm down. Lets see how we recruit for the summer first.

Title challenge is realistically too much of a leap to make, I'd say aiming to finish 3rd is the next step.

Far to sensible - you must be a spy from a rival club ;)

Liverpool will be stronger next season to. Coutinho is a massive signing for them and I expect them to really improve this summer window.

how many years have we been a few players short of a championship team? The problem is the few players always seem to go to the top 3 teams. I agree we are in great shape. but I refuse to believe we will win a title in my lifetime. Please prove me wrong Tottenham.

Yep I think they will be closer to the top four.

Expect Everton to have a slump post-Moyes. You could pretty much say what the top six for next season will be even now, just depends in what order!

That's the thing about fans, its always easy to spend others peoples money.

Totally agree.

United, City, Chelsea top three.

Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool 4-6th, slugging it out in a race for fourth. We might be good enough to push for third but that's the most likely battles in the top bracket of the prem next season.

It's all obviously dependent upon recruitment but we were challenging for 3rd until the last 10 days of this season and will probably end up only a few points off. We actually held that position for several months last season until the FA's recruitment panel intervened

The next 'step' for me is to be challenging for 2nd or (depending on whether there is a stand-out team next season) the title. That's not to say I'd be disappointed with finishing 3rd you understand....

I am afraid I don't quite share the optimism...
Not yet.

If we get 4th, I might join in a little more, but even then... Chelsea have a good squad now, they bought well last summer and it is to be assumed that Mourinho will come back and add.

City are still amazingly rich in talent and with any other manager I think they will challenge again, let alone any new purchases and they will not take missing out on big players again.

Man Utd are the only team I see regressing a little next season with the whole post Fergie hangover.

Arsenal are Arsenal, they find a way to challenge top 4 no matter what and at some point you have to fear that they will spend, as they have the money.

We need another Modric and we still probably need a proper striker a la RvP before we are title challengers. With Kaboul back I will say for now e might not need another CB, but another LB is looking more likely.

I think the core is there, but AVB needs the sprinkling of some truly top players on top of this to put us there. Will Levy gamble a little this summer? I don't think he will and history will back that up.

I think given how the other clubs around us will strengthen, I think we will be in the top 6 teams challenging for top 4 again. Have to think that Liverpool may well come back too (maybe dependent on Suarez).

Have to think Everton could drop off.

Big big summer for AVB and Levy. My current money is on sensible additions unless another VdV becomes available. Moutinho might be doable now considering he only has 1yr left on contract.

Disagree.

Don't think the top three is a cert at all, even if the expected managerial appointments are made. Chelsea, if they get Mourinho are the only ones that I think would be certs. Given the right investment we could take advantage and make an impact higher in the table. Don't think a title challenge is out of the question, but would take the right players coming in. Great opportunity for us and Arsenal, think Liverpool will still be a little way behind.
