So we already have Scott Munn as "chief football officer" and Rebecca Caplehorn as "director of football administration and governance", and we also need a "director of football"? I'm no doubt missing some nuance somewhere, but those seem like broadly similar job titles to me.

Does anybody know what Caplehorn actually does that isn't covered by the other two roles?
Capelhorn's job is much more focused on the legal side of things, and best practice. She's likely to be responsible for ensuring that contracts are legally bounding, and things behind the scenes are running smoothly. I saw, for example, that she is taking on the responsibility for working out what, if any, compensation is due for the Solomon signing. She likely isn't focused on anything to do with identifying players. Munn will then be the person ensuring that there is cohesion between this side of the business and the football.

She probably only has football in her job title because so much of the legal side is football related, because we're a football club. Much like somebody at a charity might be called Director or Charity Administration and Governance, or somebody as a record label might be called Director of Music Administration and Governance.

Thanks. Still seems slightly odd as her background is finance rather than legal (qualified chartered accountant and previously director of finance at QPR)

What is slightly odd is that like @bombarda says she is responsible for getting the legalities of the playing staff correct, and as @TheHodFather says she's a highly qualified chartered accountant and yet she couldn't work out how many players we had on loan or how many we were allowed to have, resulting in us having to pay off Docherty at the last minute.

Wonder if it's Ben Manga who is leaving his role at Watford. He was Technical Director there, and previously Chief Scout and Director of Football at Frankfurt (who won the Europa League with him at the helm).

Highly regarded as an excellent talent spotter, worked under the Pozzo family (like Gabbianini) and recruited the likes of Luka Jovic, Evan Ndicka and Randal Kolo Muani to Frankfurt. Not super high profile and has successfully worked in a similar structure to what we are putting in place.

Wasn't he mentioned a couple of pages back when the question was: 'Who are the DoFs connected to CAA Base?"

It does seem plausible based on who represents him but looking at that, it poses the question of why get rid of Gabbanini in the first place?

Would like to see some further movement on the DoF front during the international break hopefully.

Is it not a role similar to that which used to be called Club/Company Secretary? Albeit with much bigger and more complicated budgets and contracts?

It does sound a bit like that. My main point was that I can't really get my head round there being three roles. I can see two roles quite easily - somebody on the football side who's job is identifying talent and squad planning, and somebody "back office" to deal with the legal/financial/contractual side of things - but I struggle to get to three.

Put it another way, assuming our new DoF is the "football guy", and Caplehorn is the "back office guy" doing the legal/financial/contractual stuff, then what is Scott Munn doing?

What everyone has been crying out for? Replacing Levy as the overall strategist for the football side. If we need to replace a member of staff on that side it's on him to have shortlists lined up before it even happens. Being proactive rather than reactive which is what we've been

I thought that was basically what a director of football's job was! But we seem to need both Scott Munn and a director of football. Anyway, I'll leave it here as the club have obviously decided that there's three roles there even if I can't really see it....

Think of Munn as the CEO - of football operations. He oversees everything related to football operations. Just like a typical CEO, his remit is broad, and not a specific role.

You think the DOF is out there scouting for his own potential replacement?

If that fell under her responsibility, she really should be out of a job.
