Hopefully some semblence of Paratici's strategy remains, I wonder if this means he's completely gone now or will stay in that consultancy/shadow puppeteer role. It would be pretty on the money for something that significantly improved over the last few years flounders after big changes

The evidence is on the pitch. The new recruits suggest that someone was doing a good job - so why change?

And Scott Munn looks like a walking Wet Blanket if I may make so bold....
(Bad) jokes aside, I really don't understand why a new director of Football Operations would begin his tenure by overhauling one of the few things in the setup that was producing positive results. With another crucial window coming up in a few months time no less.
To get his own team in? Is togetherness in the backroom staff that important? It makes no sense...

Wasn’t there some discussion that Gabbanini was quite highly thought of by a number of other clubs, and that if he didn’t get the gig with us he would likely be off to do it somewhere else. Perhaps Munn has someone specific lined up so Gabbanini has left as he doesn’t want to stay in his current role.

As to who, I really have no idea, but a continuation of the buy young strategy should be our focus. It worked before under Poch, and Ange seems to have the same view, young athletic players who he can mould to fit what he wants. I’d hope our suggested new data driven model is continued, picking up some less heralded young players who can come in and give real value. Key to that is having a clear pathway for players, so potential targets know that coming here will see them develop, and not get buried in the U21’s.

Ange said this a couple of weeks ago and it made me think we already had someone ready to announce as DOF/SD. Sounds like a role different to head scout to me, maybe someone internally will do that or maybe it just wasn’t needed.

“I like working with a sporting director because they do most of the leg work that I just don’t have the time to do. When you’ve got a good sporting director you work together. They see the game through your eyes and they say: “This guy is going to be perfect for you.’”

I wonder if it might be one of the guys from Brentford familiar with data or someone from within the city group familiar with Munn or even an unknown who Ange has a previous relationship. Sounds like it just needs announcing now though.

Back in May , most prominent name linked was Lee Dykes from Brentford.
Which is a bit of an odd link considering he is their technical director and they are normally more involved with backroom staff. Phil Giles is Brentford's Director of Football.

And Scott Munn looks like a walking Wet Blanket if I may make so bold. He'd be perfectly capble of stirring up apathy and dampening down ambition all across the club - just the way Levy likes it.
What goes through your head to make you say this about someone you don't know? I just don't get it.

Its been several years since I last played FM - but Longoria was always a must hire for me as DOF, as part of the 1st day moves, back in the day.
Interesting connection with Longoria from his wiki:

In December 2010, he became a scout at Atalanta, then in the Italian Serie B. After 3 years at the club, he joined Sassuolo in July 2013 as head scout, before joining Juventus in August 2015. Notably, he was the origin of the decision to sign the Uruguayan midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.[9][5]

I'm not overly impressed with what's gone on, but I'm going to see what happens next before I wade in.

You’re better informed than the rest of us but my presumption would be that Ange was ok with this. As you say, will be keen to see what happens now, as a lot of good recruitment has started to happen and the whole process seems to have a bit more shape/structure now. Fingers crossed it’s a forward step in some capacity

I genuinely have no clue who is coming in next and that is equal parts exciting and shit-my-pants-inducing.

Let’s hope the adult brief can hold out a little bit longer.

One could argue that a new manager wouldn't normally accept the sale of the prized striker but we both know that if the striker wants out there's little the manager can do. Likewise, if the chief scout won't accept anything but being the DoF but doesn't have the right skill set or likely to alienate others then Munn has to open the door and say good luck to you
