We were 100% going there if we won it. I am sorry, I sat in front of Daniel Levy, the single purpose of that meeting from Daniel and Donna's point of view was to convince us to shut up. He could have told me (and Darren Alexander) that it wasn't likely we'd move and it was just an option, we'd have backed off. He didn't. He told us in no uncertain terms it was the club's ONLY viable option and it was Stratford or no new stadium anywhere. We didn't believe him and events since can be interpreted however you might want, but I can promise you, we looked into the whites of his eyes and he was dead set on it.

from memory i think we were quite advanced down the NDP route when the Stratford proposal literally came from nowhere.

In the end things worked out pretty well. We have what will be one the best stadiums in the world and West Ham have bulldozed Upton Park and are playing in Shit-Hole :):)

We were, but everything stopped and the club spent somewhere between £5m and £10m on the Stratford bid. The club had determined that the NDP was not viable and was very unhappy with the S106 requirements and the Council's unwillingness to do any supporting works around the development.

I'm obviously more than glad with how things worked out, but this narrative that Levy was only 'using' Stratford for leverage is only supported by opinions of the ill informed and those who 'don't believe it till they see it' citing the fact we didn't move to Stratford as sufficient evidence to support the argument that we/Levy wouldn't have moved there. I am sorry, but I spoke to the man and Donna Cullen for well over an hour and he was deadly serious about it. Not least because if we won the bid, we'd have been legally bound to make the move! It's not much use to anyone anymore, but for a time I dedicated every spare minute of my life (and some not spare minutes) to fighting that move, so you won't find many people better informed on the subject.

Which leads to the question was Levy wanting this move due to purely financial reasons? Considering none of us would have wanted to have packed up and left our home, why was he so serious about taking this route? Or was it simply due to the resistance and difficulty with the planning permission so he was trying to secure us a more lucrative home sooner rather than later?

It doesn't matter what plans they would have had for the Olympic Stadium, I'd (and I'm sure most would too) much rather have just stayed in old WHL.

I do think the screen would be better squared off and placed further left. It looks a bit odd cut off but I'll reserve judgement unitl it's finished.

If my grey cells remember correctly, I think the idea was that it could be seen along the 'Tottenham Way' from the station, when the next part of the development takes place.

It really doesn't look dull at all. It's majestic...

Yep. The grey (yikes, pretty sure it is grey, I am colour blind but mostly red green) is quite sophisticated I think. It would make an ideal link maybe to Fed Ex for naming rights who have used grey on the Ex of their logo. 'Delivering Success'! Not that the club were necessarily thinking of that. Though according to my mate's pet iguana, who's a brand consultant and knows Levy...

Saw the stadium last night flying into Heathrow. It looks magnificent. Unfortunately couldn’t take that great a picture with the phone.

Thought about staying in London an extra day and visiting it today but I got a long bus journey back to Cornwall I want to get over with.

Have no idea how we really could have called ourselves Tottenham Hotspur and moved to Stratford. They’d have had to do something silly with the name like MK dons. Thank f*** it never happened.

My goodness the new stadium looks outstandingly superb. Others may mock its delays and mishaps..but we'll all have the last laugh.

Just thought that needed saying.

West Ham moved to Stratford and kept their name.

As far as I remember our idea was to knock the Olympic stadium down and build a new one as well as tarting up the old Crystal Palace place for the athletics.
Think this would have meant playing at WHL for the duration of the new build so wouldn't have ben playing at Wembley
I wonder what the difference in costs would have been had we gone there instead. I guess the stadium would still have been the same design as this one. Maybe the cost of this one less the acquisition of surrounding areas and the cost to hire Wembley.

Thankfully Harringey Council gave the backing needed to make Tottenham a better place in the end. It would have been the final nail in the coffin for that area had the club moved.

Does anyone else think it’s slightly odd it’s just the south stand ? As the last built surely the west should be more ready. Could it be possible that the wiring/fire issues don’t effect the South as it’s was effectively built separately. The press realease is slightly unclear if you can actually visit your seat in the west ? As it just mentions North and south.

I guess the 6000 fans are season ticket holders so makes sense to familiarise themselves with their section (south stand)
