I’ve came across this on Twitter and was curious as to why the amount we receive for our kit deal with Nike is so low in comparison to the others included. We’ve signed the deal with Nike until 2033 I believe.

Interesting! I have to imagine that with Conte, Son winning the Golden boot and us being back in the CL, we'll hopefully hear about either a training kit deal or sleeve deal.

I don't think the actual amount is public, the £30m figure was for the initial five year deal but when New Balance took Liverpool to court it was revealed that Nike pay us a similar amount as Chelsea.

I can't find a link but Nike kit deals came up during the court case (Liverpool negotiated a unique deal with Nike - £30m a year + a percentage of kit sales) and Spurs was definitely mentioned.

I wonder how long until we are going to get some iconic kits, everything since Nike has been average and forgettable.

Nike have created one good kit, the baby blue away with the collar.

Are iconic kits not made with what's achieved in them rather than what they look like?

We already have both

Exactly, but I think there will be memorable shirts that nothing happened in too. The Moura hat trick shirt is iconic imo, where as this season just gone I thought the third kit was very memorable and nice. The CL final season home shirt will be remembered for the wrong reasons imo with the weird fade at the bottom (which looked awful in Europe when with white shorts) I suppose the Bale return shirt was memorable too.

Everything else they’ve done so far has been pretty forgettable and bland though.

It’s what you do in them that really makes a kit iconic. For example, this one is the best kits we’ve had in recent memory imho but we were shit that year and it is largely forgotten.

New training gear is certainly hi-vis. Think I'll get one for when I'm on the bike... even the rowdy audi's should see me a mile off.

I was thinking of getting one and use it instead of having a bid playing football, but I'm not sure I will get one.

I liked getting the training kits due to lack of sponsor on them. It's putting me off getting one now.

Arsenal's shirt sponsorship is the same as ours, despite being massively inflated by the entire Emirates naming rights deal being used as the figure here. Only Man Utd (still globally a far bigger club than the rest of the 'big 6') has a significantly higher shirt sponsor deal than us.

Whoever pulled the data together somehow overlooked that we do in fact have sleeve sponsors and training wear sponsors (perhaps it's a year out of date?). I have no idea how much these deals are worth but a combined £15-20m is probably a fairly realistic estimate.

The Man City kit deal covers the entire City Football Group. I believe that's about 10 professional clubs all around the world, so it's no surprise that the deal dwarfs ours (it's actually shocking that it's not more).

Liverpool's kit deal is equal to ours (£30m), but is bumped up to £70m due to shirt sale estimates. I find it hard to believe that Liverpool has a unique deal based on shirt sales, while no other PL club has negotiatied similar terms with the same manufacturer (Nike), so perhaps other clubs have extras that have been omitted from the figures.

Disagree.

All three kits that year were excellent. The away kit that season is the only one I’ve bought since the 90s and home was also great. The home has been good in alternating years, so the first year, third year and the season just gone.

Despite those being to my taste (I was born in 1980 and our preferred kits tend to represent the nostalgia of the kits we had when growing up), but I understand the reason behind most of the other kits (in order to sell them and make money!).

Just ordered the home shit. Haven't bought a home shirt since 2010, with the car tyre blue across the front

I don't really care about the sponsor and sponsor being in red it's the fucking sleeve sponsor I hate. Firstly cinch is fucking everywhere, most annoying company but secondly, I just hate them on the sleeve.

Just got these for my Son and myself, his has Romero 4 and mine is plain, ordered on DHgate, from China, arrived in 10 days and cost a grand total including shipping of £27.49. Was wary what would turn up but the quality and finish is really good.

Yeah, got direct from Nike last year specifically so could avoid the cinch logo (Nike.com didn't have the sleeve logo on). And made the shirt look really crisp / classic. But looks like this year you get cinch logo on Nike.com too..
