Didn't realise he's 24!
Nor me but when I think about he spent a year on loan and he's been around the squad a while. He's the type of player who does all right but isn't a match winner like Kane or Alli. I like the way he can play as a defensive or more advanced midfielder, gives us more options when he's on the bench where I fear he'll spend a lot of his career.

Like others of our own will go the extra pitch length
and their attitude, loyalty, effort and desire
will help to compensate for any lack of quality
though even this is overstated.
Winks should play on Sunday for a start.

Don't be blinded by the expensive imports at other clubs
and don't undervalue the importance of things other than money.
Lets win things, not buy things.
I thought we'd turned that corner.

And he's left handed, unlike the previous three contract renewals - was beginning to think the club just changed the heads.

Briliant little footballer,
should be given more chance

He is a good footballer, no denying that. My gut feeling is that Poch likes him for reasons other than his footballing ability ie his personality, attitude, work effort - all in all he's the epitome of a 'no-fuss, squad player'

honestly a tidy footballer just to light weight, and yes I know that was said about Modric, but Modric proved everyone wrong. I really don't see Tom ever becoming a regular in the 1st team, but at least with the extension it now puts a value on his head come the January transfer window

We need a squad, and players of Carrol's ability simply do not want that role. People like him are priceless, because they will bleed to death rather than stop fighting. He loves the club and wants to fight. We have known players who got dropped and left at the first chance of doing so. Not Tom. He's one of us.
I agree he will probably not make the first XI, but that's what was said about Rose or... Kane. Just saying.

I like him. Has a good eye for a pass and can score too. Don't really know where he fits in though apart from the 10 position. He's too lightweight to play in the CM2 but could possibly cover the wider positions in AM.

I am suprised the amount of stick he get's on here. He is a superior footballer to Mason, he is just not the strongest on the defensive side. Me personally I would have him as direct backup to Dembele, I would also like to see him try the Eriksen role as well.

I still think he will break through to the first team. People forget that CM's normally do not really break through until later in their career.

Modric is undoubtedly the player Carroll should aim to become.

I'm just not convinced Tom Carroll is major part of this club. When I see him play I don't see the "this is lad is special" element about him.

I really hope I'm wrong but I just don't see it

Why does every player who is apart of the squad rotation need to be a "this lad is special" type of player ?

Nice little player - but that's as far as my adulation goes.
I think Chadli was and is better and should have been kept as that impact creative player.
Easy for me to say that after Chadlis' display yesterday - but to be fair to me I've always praised and liked Chadli. It's in the past and he needed more minutes after his injury and personal tragedy.
All that said - Carroll still has a role to play, especially in the smaller games.

Why have a 24 year old who isn't special or at most a squad player when you can have a younger player from the youth team that has the potential to be special or a real first teamer?

That's when youth team players should be getting a chance
