Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed the club have made an approach to Tottenham for their manager Andre Villas-Boas.

The Italian giants, who finished second in Serie A last season, are on the lookout for a replacement for Walter Mazzarri after he opted to walk away last week.

And speaking to Portuguese paper DN, De Laurentiis confirmed he had made Spurs boss Villas-Boas a top target.

‘Yes,’ he replied when asked if an approach had been made.
‘There is a very tempting argument to hire a young coach here.’

t is not clear whether Spurs have entertained the offer from Napoli, but it is thought that they are keen to hang on to the 35-year-old despite his failure to land Champions League football last season.
Napoli are also believed to be considering ex-Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo as an alternative, while Rafa Benitez has previously been linked with the role.
Whoever takes over will have the imminent task of fending off Manchester City who are set to step up their interest in striker Edinson Cavani in the next few weeks

Thinks its fair to say that this is a non story. They have a wish list, AVB is on it....no big deal really.

We can laugh at this... but its another sign that we have rehabilitated AVB after his Chelski nightmare . I think its off most people's radar ...
..But if a wealthy club came in ready to buy his dream players...we absolutely sure he wouldn't think about it ?...he knows that Levy has constraints on spending (16 mill max so far)

If AVB lasts into Aug he will have broken his own personal longevity record at one club .

I reckon Levy will lock up AVB and Bale together, in a little dungeon below his office. Solitary until the season starts.

Is Napoli bigger that tottenham? I'd argue we are in the same boat - both on the cusp of challenging the big boys and creating something special.

Only difference is Napoli have to overcome a flagging AC Milan, a out-of-form Inter and a team of pensioners (Juve). We have to overcome 3 money rolled teams (i include Man utd) and the arsenal.

Also we have Bale who isn't leaving. They have Cavani who is. Add the fact they already sold a that other dude to PSG. So yes, fk off you italians.

Yup, like on knightmare but rather than the kid with that helmet on it'll be Bale and AVB with Levy acting as the dungeoneer..the day after transfer deadline day he'll tell them they have completed their journey as they head back in to WHL (y)

Also for the record this is just as much a reliable story as anything from the metro
