Had a poor game but it doesn't make him a bad player, has had some decent games under Mourinho and he will do again. Right to be subbed and right to be angry with himself.

We've seen this twice now - all the close-ups of Vertonghen as he was subbed and looked broken.
Now Dele, angry at his substitution.

And I wonder if it is for amazon's benefit as I feel certain that both players (and amazon) were told beforehand that they would be substituted later in the game.
In any case, Jan knew we would be reverting to a 4 in the second half if we were behind and it was between him and Tanganga who was hooked. It shouldn't have come as a great surprise.

And equally we have to rotate and freshen our front players when we can in this self created crisis. Dele had worked hard and we can't afford for him to get injured too. Bergeijn is relatively fresher and Moura seems very durable. Dele coming off is logical and planned imo.

Neither reaction seems genuine to me. All a bit scripted.

He was offside anyway so it wouldn't have mattered.

No he wasn't, the nose hair of one of the Leipzig players kept him onside, I mean, sheesh, you didn't notice that, VAR would have...............?

Dele has been known to sulk and throw a tantrum when subbed and Jan really looked broken because he fully realized that he is done at this level.

He should be angry at himself. He didnt really offer any contribution. He was playing up with Moura a lot, and also in defence so I'm not sure of he was conserving energy, but he looked sluggish and didnt do half the work Moura did. His work rate, for the most part was not what you'd expect from a player at this level.

Although, I noticed a few times, that players were having infield discussions about defensive tactics and there was a.lot of shoulder shrugging. I'm.not sure they totally get what JM wants yet. I got the impression there was some positional confusion relating to tactics.
Mate, he covered more ground than anyone else in the team, and that was with 25 mins less played.

Of all the things to dig him out on, lack of work rate is the very last thing you can level at him.

He covered ground and as I said, he wasnt terrible. But his work rate upfront was poor. He didnt track back and harry defenders once he lost the ball. I know what the stats say, but I could cover ground all day and not break a sweat. Although I do appreciate he was playing advanced attacking role and was also defending, so he cant do it all. But, I maintain that Dele didnt defend from the front or track back with any urgency.

He is one of my favourite players though. Just to add. Needs Harry back asap to see the best of him.
