I know we have immediate needs but I get more excited about these kind of signings than a first teamers who has already hit a ceiling.

We're never going to sign world-class ready players so now we are going back to a policy of picking up the best youth products who have the potential to reach that level is an exciting prospect imo

If he left Everton's academy to go and play, i would be amazed if he now decided a move to us would be a good career move. He only has to look at Bryan Gil to see his future....

Been doing some reading up on him. Apparently he's regarded as a huge talent and can play anywhere in attack.

Just turned 18 and was actually at Everton in their academy from 2015-2020. Left to get first team football with Angers. Was at PSG's academy before that.

Course he is

Whenever a link to a not famous player breaks I always chuckle to myself about posters who are going to pretend they have seen them play numerous times (apologies to any Angers season ticket holders in advance.).

I think the question is, is he a striker that keeps Conte content this January but still allow for something more significant in the summer?

Andy Brassell was on Sky Sports talking about him. Described him as a winger with incredible pace and a lot of potential. Said he has "dismantled" teams like Lyon this season. Also mentioned that Dortmund and Leipzig are both interested in him and ideally Angers would like a loan back until the end of the season.

Dont know much but if Leipzig and Dortmund are genuinely both keen on him then that’s probably about as good as it gets in terms of scouting pedigree.

We don't need another young prospect up front when we already have Scarlett and Parrott. We need a clear first choice.

Yeah we could honestly do a lot worse than just finding out who Dortmund and Leipzig are scouting and hijacking their deals. They seem to consistently bring in good young talent while we bring in overpriced shite or players that don't fit.

If it's true I guess this would be the plan. The fact he can play any of the front 3 positions means he should see enough game time to keep developing, even if we do bring in a direct Kane back up in the summer.

I am sorry but for me signings like this seem a total waste of money.

Does this come under the Hitchen project or the Paratici project? Surely we would be better investing everything we have into creating a better first team.

I know it is short sighted but this is what we need. Jam today.
they are only a total waste of money when they don't pay off. When they go somewhere else and rip it up they are then "missed the boat" signings and "why didn't we sign him before he went to*insert mid to top end club from inferior league*"

The type of signing you should make when you already have a good first team.
I lean a bit towards this. When we have a seemingly limited budget I feel like we should put all that towards players who are ready to contribute quickly.

17mil touted is a pretty significant fee still for Spurs unfortunately.

I'm also not convinced we have a great plan for players like this. Jack Clarke has been a complete waste of money. Will Mater Sarr be ready next season? If not we need to have another loan lined up with a better club than Metz. Same with Ali-Cho, highly doubtful he would play much over Lucas/Bergwijn/Son so needs a loan lined up that gets him more experience here in the prem.

Don't think the 2 are mutually exclusive. Just because there are holes in our first team doesn't mean we should pass up opportunities to pass up signing potential world class talents.

We're clearly not going to find a Kane backup of sufficient quality to sign this Jan so I rather we bring in a player like this who we can give some minutes to and see how they develop. I don't see it stopping us pursuing a more senior option in the summer.

Or he has to look at every single journalist and pundit in the world saying "Spurs have no Harry Kane cover" and Conte saying we are in desperate need of another CF to play with and rotate with Kane.

Add to that Gil has started to get more apps off the bench as well which he wasn't previously.

I’d love to be proven wrong but this imvho would be such an average signing particularly when we are supposedly backing a World Class manager.

Parrott isn't tearing up any trees on his loans and Scarlett isn't ready for the first team.

Maybe they're not good enough. We can't not sign a player with potential because they might block another player with potential. The cream always rises to the top.
