Ok we are going to have different opinions on things.
After we passed on him, I’d been watching palace where possible to see how he’d been getting on.

He didn’t start every game early in the season (understandable)
He didn’t score or assist many goals (Leeds, wba and us and now sheff Utd).
He showed good touches, but hasn’t transformed palace (agree that they aren’t the most adventurous and mostly rely on zaha).
He is still young, and no doubt growing into the PL and his club (also understandable).
He’s done ok so far. Excellent is a stretch IMO. He certainly hasn’t had the effect that Grealish had for villa last season
Have we missed out? Hard to say- at the end of the season you could judge better.

I doubt he’d have had any game time for us yet.
Palace are the local team to me here so I watch most games and like you paid special attention as we were linked. On top of that a lot of my mates are serious Palace fans and I follow HLTCO on twitter who is a Palace blogger. From what I've seen and what these universally say he has made a very good impact in what is an extremely negatively set up team by Roy Hodgson. If you look at Grealish stats they aren't fantastic either but if you watch you can see that Grealish is almost always Central to what Villa are doing.

Worth noting that Eze is 3 years younger than Grealish and in his first season in the Prem. He's an extremely bright prospect and I think he will continue to grow over the season.

All fair enough points.

All I’d say is he’s not being used in the conversations about players we’ve missed out on (like Grealish, Fernandes etc) -yet!
Hopefully not too. Don’t want our scouting team to get things wrong too often.

Maybe they think Olise has more potential- shall we get back to him?

My son trains with this lad ?

he’s quality and a top young man as well
Get him to do some snooping on our behalf ?

Seriously though, that’sa good endorsement. I’ve one given him the eye test but a shanks seal of approval makes him a must buy in my book!

I don't think it was down to not rating him but more down to what we needed the most in that window. We were looking to overhaul and went out to sign players that would make an immediate impact. I think if he had been available this summer we'd have gone for him. I think he'd be perfect in the Ndombele role and possibly in the Bergwijn role. I think I'd swap out Lamela for him purely for his availability issues.

I’ve never met him, but suspect my lad is more in awe of the u23’s that play for first team!

gotta remember my lad is 14 yrs old so when he gets the odd session in the stickswith the u23, he is mostly focused on not dropping the ball ??

he said he’sa really nice bloke though
