Why the hollywood long diagonal balls?

Why?

We have one of the best ball playing CB's in the world yet Dawson is always trying to start attacks.

Incredible.

He's slow, clumsy and poor... No wonder AVB wanted rid.

Also the hollywood balls really grind my gears too.

I've said this over and over again, the Spurs line-up isn't a popularity contest.

Nice guy but limited footballer - Ship him out.

Love how people are just clicking negatives without actually countering my points?

Yeah great he throws in some big heroic blocks and gees the team up.

Aside from that? He constantly gives away possession, gets turned inside out and bullied on varying games.

Basically you can't play him against someone big and strong or someone with rapid pace... Running out of games he suits here...

As Spurger said; potentially good back up but no way should he be a starter (I know we've been limited with injuries)

He's made so many rash tackles in the last few games. He's selling himself far too easily. Got to up his game.

His Hollywood ball to Benny started the move that lead to Dempsey's goal against City. Easy to moan when it doesn't work. He's not amazing but he's pretty good.

What is the point in supporting spurs if you aren't content with Dawson as a squad player.

Pathetic 'fan'

That's selective.

It's the same situation with Defoe's greediness with shooting.

Obviously, 1/20 times the pass may work/ball may go in the net?

Football isn't about chancing your luck with 60 yard pings. We should be playing out from the back and building attacks from there.

If I had time I could find you countless clips from our games where a failed Dawson diagonal has handed possession straight back to opposition and presented them with a chance at scoring.

In all fairness I don't think there are many options in front of him a lot of the time, so he reverts to what he does and tries to open up the game by hitting the long diagonal switch.

I'm more worried about his defending, we kept hearing a few months back how he had made the defence more solid which based on goals conceded recently he really hasn't. He is getting turned inside out as well, that one today where he was 5-10 yards behind the rest of the defence then got skanked by Lallana who should have scored... well, if that was Gallas there would be many many more posts about it.

And just so it doesn't look like I'm purely bashing Dawson here, I think all the individuals, plus our defensive shape, needs to sharpen the fuck up for these last three games. He is the supposed leader though, and it would be nice if he led by example.

todays butt of peoples anger I suppose... don't know what else to say.. yeah we we're shite & we've played far far better than that & lost but give some credit to saints who totally obliterated our midfield today... maybe that's why daws played the howitzers!!

Shocking team performance. We struggled to string 3 incisive passes together for almost the whole match.

IMO a CB can lead by example by coming up with decisive blocks and doing his all to stop the opponent.

We know Dawson's strengths and weaknesses. When given little or no protection by our midfield, he will be exposed due to his lack of agility & acceleration. He is a useful squad player with a top attitude and fully deserves a place in our squad.

Where did I explicitly say I wasn't content with him as a squad player; if you read on to other comments you would realise I conceded that wouldn't be too bad.

Not sure how me constructively making a point on Dawson's footballing ability (with examples to back my statements up) warrants me being labelled a 'pathetic fan'.

Especially when you get 'fans' making direct, personal attacks on players about their weight, background and ethnicity.

But whatever (y)

"Ship him out" is explicit.

"slow, clumsy and poor" - Hardly constructively making a point

sad state of affairs when you have to compare yourself to racists to prove your legitimacy as a fan.

Didn't mean to directly pick on you, but that post typified the arrogance and lack of appreciation of a large section of our fans.

He is not a good fan because he criticized the player you like? Are you from Liverpool? Do you like me asking you that question? Because you sounded like a hypocripe.
I am going to stay away from this forum.

Excellent character and probably a very valuable player to have in and around the team. I love how he really seems willing to bleed for the shirt, and while he's a somewhat limited footballer he brings a certain drive and determination many other players (in our squad, too) lacks. What strikes me as odd is that, for a while, he didn't really hoof the ball much, but it's started again lately and we've become a poorer team as a result because he's basically gifting the opposition the ball. Today we were under a lot of pressure and it's understandable, but the midfield and defence were playing hide and seek with each other. They weren't playing as a unit, and so Dawson did what he was forced to do.

Once Kaboul is back Dawson will surely be third choice but I certainly don't think we should ship him out.

Can't progress with this sort of player. We all love him because he has guts and heart, but he's just not good enough. Will be a decent prem player with another team.
