But as the only major country to use a
foreign national to manage our international team we have already started to dilute the spirit of this competition, which is about what our country has to offer against all other countries.
Well, we're the only major country to use a foreign national apart from Brazil.
And Argentina.
And Italy.
And France.
And Spain.
But, apart from all that, yeah, it's us.
And what about coaching staff? Germany's current goalkeeping coach is Swiss. Ours is Welsh. Does that dilute the spirit of the competition? Or are we getting ridiculously hung up on the topic of nationality when it's far more fluid these days than it ever has been. I think it's a bit rich to say that competition is about what our country has to offer, when, some might argue, it's about what our country has to offer because we nicked one of our better players off the Irish.
