The thing is its not entirely true, there have always been some who are like that but most were absolutly gutted when Modric left and Berbatov left. Now we are bigger I think it hurts less, because getting a top player isn't as hard

Things like Walker were not hard to take because Walker wasn't even starting at that time and we had tripps. Eriksen was so drawn out people were just sick to death with it, but again, we have other good attacking players. When we were less good the main reactions was denial, pain, anger and all these typical things.

Southampton fans weren't that upset when PEH, because PEH always split opinion, was never universally well liked and they played the best football of their season when he was out of the squad. People say that 'ohh its just a defense mechanism' because they are trying to justify why fans arent that bothered by it. Thankfully, while PEH will 100% have many people who don't rate him 6 months from now, he will be playing a different style and different system and may thrive here. But it did annoy me that people seemed to act as if we were signing some adored figure from Southampton, we were not.

Having said that, the general reaction of Doherty leaving is definitely more in keeping with losing players that are rated. And this matters a lot to me. People may think that there is more value in the player threads, but go to any player thread on this site, even Kane, and it's filled with criticism, because people use those threads to vent frustrations after games, while most fans ignore them. Reaction to leaving for me does show something of value. Particularly on forums as the people on forums tend to be more invested in the club than say, Mark, from twitter.

I was gutted when Walker went because it was obvious it signalled the beginning of the end of a great team that should of been added to and not taken away from. Plus I had no faith we’d replace him effectively at the time, which has proved correct.

If one gets banned from the ITK Forums, they can still access the site (Spurs Chat, General Football etc etc) they just can't see or take part in any of the Transfer Forums or Threads. Not seeing the Daily ITK Thread alone means there isn't one, not because of any ban.

Which reminds me, I had a couple of PM's asking why they've been banned. The answer is, you haven't see above.
When people do get banned does it ever get revoked?

He doesn't own the club though. The club will still want a good fee for their player.
Guess it’s a balance. Agents cuts, who else he will bring in and how he can keep that fee low. Will he bring future talents there etc

I don’t think it’s as simple as that. He grants them access to players they’d never have a chance of having in a million years, he has to get something out of it. I reckon if he asks them to let one of his clients move - they sort of have to comply after all he’s done for them.

This is the first time they’ll seemingly experience the downside of being a super agent’s money laundering machine.

Neves being the prime example.

Surprised no-one has come in for him yet, seems inevitable though.

Is anyone else very surprised at how quick this seems to have moved and is this a sign of the business we aim to do over the next 5 weeks ? Seems much less posturing and delay and much less in the press until things are advanced ?
and one more thing - where are we getting the money to pay for Doherty without any more sales ? Were we charging 250,000 per skywalk ?

Not only the Mendes link (he recently became Doherty's agent) but also the years of service Doherty has given them. 10 years across 3 divisions. He probably wants a fresh opportunity and has asked if they would allow him to leave. He's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Coincidentally the offer is around his Transfermarkt valuation which I believe is used more often that you'd think in negotiations towards the lower end of the market.

The fee isn't huge but it will be almost all profit as he's been there for so long.

Wolves will likely get a young Portuguese RB like Tavarez or Correia in return with a lot of potential and resale. It's a model that has served them well. I think they will be getting AMN mainly as a CM that can fill in on either side where necessary.

I'm still quite shocked at the fee being reported. As with the KWP and Hojbjerg deals, it's a sensible use of funds which is very important.

I'll be interested to see who we go for regarding a second RB. Doherty will secure us for at least a couple of years, Castagne would be logical but Aarons could come in, develop and be ready to go by then.

I agree it will be gedson/tanganga as back up. Let's just hope he stays fit.

Do we actually know that it's moving quickly/ We were on the cusp of signing Kim Min Jai weeks ago. I'm hopeful we get this sorted quickly but I'm still administering the salt.
