I don’t think it was a schoolboy error, and I don’t think he gives away more fouls than the average fullback. I think Doherty is more of a liability defensively, but both are easily good enough for us.

And not everything that goes wrong on the pitch needs someone to blame. Shit happens.
Really? Christ I nip up everytime he's chasing the ball especially if it's in the goal area.
Even Jose said in the documentary Aurier scares him because he may give a stupid penalty away any second.
Have to agree to disagree there.
Im more refering to his general defending as schoolboy, diving in, than that particular incident to be fair. He has improved but its still there.

I think we're focusing on it because it keeps happening. If it was a one off then we wouldnt.
I think there are a number of reasons.
1) We concede far too much possesion in our half so the defence is under more pressure than it should be. Doesn't help.
2) We do make a lot of poor decisions. Winks for example, fkin brain dead needless freekicks on Thursday then trying to dribble out from the edge of the goal in the dying seconds of a game instead of booting it. Him, Aurier and Sanchez are not up to it imo.
3) Constant changing of the back 4. Has it been the same 4 twice? No successful defence changes every match. You should be able to name the back 4 and get it right 9 times out of 10. Whose starting Monday night? Fk knows!
4) VAR and law changes have cost us badly. These days you need to be at least 2 goals up, or in our case 4, to make sure you dont get shafted.
Other than that I'd say attacking football wise we look the best team in the league at the minute. Shame our defence is so poor.
Agree with most of that, just not on the blame being with Aurier in particular earlier on. As a team I don't think we give away a stupid number of free-kicks, it's just very dangerous whenever we do. I'm hoping Rodon will help with that but we certainly need a settled CB partnership fast at least - I don't mind rotating the fallbacks as often happened under Poch with Rose/Davies and Walker/Trippier.

Was poor going forward, seems to have cut out all the good shit he was doing at Wolves. I think defensively he took care of the ball and didn't get caught out which is good at least.

Much more safety free than Aurier in my opinion.

Aurier can be great but I always feel like there’s a match changing mistake , I do not get that feeling with Doherty , I thought he was good tonight

He is not a right back and never really has been. The reason why Ireland fans are deluded he gets picked over Coleman in a back four.

He is solid enough until it comes to one on one defending when he is useless.

Definitely needs to do better defensively. Much better with the ball than Aurier though, more intelligent with his pass selection and when to move ahead.

To be fair, it’s early in his career here, and today was an off day for many. But he was pretty average today. Unimpressive frankly.

He wasn’t as effective going forward as Davies, who was also poor, and is not a good attacker - that’s pretty damning

Let’s see how it plays out, but I can see us looking for a new RB in a year or so

Got to say I prefer Aurier to him at the moment. Whilst people will say about Auriers moments, I have much more confidence in Serge in a back four.

As a wingback with a back three he could be great but not so sure in a back four. Still early days though so not writing him off.

I think our next three signings are going to be very easy to pick out. New RB, New Centre Back, New deep lying Centre Midfielder.

Genuinely wonder what game some of you were watching.
He literally got dribbled past three times. Granted he was decent going forward and played better in the second half but he was poor defensively and frankly we were lucky it was Burnley and not a team who were actually dangerous down the wing.
