the most pathetic post of all time. You are rating players without actually seeing them. Can u not see how stupid it sounds

I remember some people on here during the close season saying that O'Hara wasn't a top four player.. Well we certainly aren't a top four club at the moment, but O'Hara was my man of the match and it was evident to me that we need some gritty determined solid players like Jamie for the others to play off. I'm sure that given time we will gel - Ramos is right, this team don't really know each other yet. But it is extremely depressing when we've gone through the traumas of Berba / Keane to see us so far away from where we dream of being (for yes, we too have dreams).

great stuff mido - I hate all this supercilious 'not good enough for top 4' - 'won't take us up a level' guff (see my many rants about barry which was when I first came across it on here in all its supericilous snobbery masking know nothing itis)

will a player improve us - that's the key criterion (assuming the wages fee etc are ok) - and with o'hara we don't even have to buy him

I've been talking about playing him since before the boro game and I was one of the few then on here suggesting he should start

I'm glad he's got his chance - hope he stays in for toon where we will need to battle like churchillian heroes to stay in the cup

Gomes 6- Didn't have anything to do.

Zokora 6- Did ok. Not a fan of him at RB though.
Corluka 7- Did a good job covering at CB, which is what he was brought in to do
Woodgate 7- Did all he had to do.
Assou Ekotto 6- Did alright, a few decent balls down the line.

Bentley 5- Not good, delivery was poor again...I thought that's what he was bought for.
Jenas 5- I honestly cannot remember anything about his performance.
O'Hara 6- Worked hard. I'd keep playing him until we get in someone better in Jan.
Bale 6- Did ok, better at LB. Would have liked t see him deliver a lot more.

Pavlyuchenko 5- Will need time, I woulda kept him on for 2nd half to play with Campbell.
Bent 4- Must do a lot more. Didn't pose a threat, should have come off at half time.

Campbell 6- Hopefully will start next game.
Lennon 7- Bright, good to be used as a sub to run at tired legs.
Huddlestone 5- Can't remember what he did.

The most significant thing I remember from today was during the final 10 mins, he missed a pass, got fouled and then just sat on the floor! At the end his head was down, he wasn't pushing forward when we were desperate to try and score, he dawdled about and just looked uninterested. I know we're in a bad place - but if this is the body language and behaviour from the captain - what players would be motivated to get in there and give there all. Hope this was a blip JJ as you have great potential!

On the O'Hara situation; I was glad he played today and he worked hard and was good but he needs to stop diving in all the time. Most of his tackles involve him going to ground which leaves him vulnerable (if he doesn't get the ball) to getting a card or losing distance to the player.

Rest of team:

Positives:
Bent - trying hard just not getting fed the ball correctly.
Bale - 2nd half more than first
Lennon - made the difference as really pushed forward
Campbell - again willing to push on
Zokora - some good passes and no major f**k ups!

Negatives:
BAE - WHY???????????
JJ - see above - please sort yourself out JJ

Gomes - 7
Punches when he comes for crosses, which he wins. Can't complain.

Zokora - 6
Usual make-shift RB performance. Makes up for lack of positioning with pace. Gets forward well, shame he's not confident enough to cross, regularly.

BAE - 6
Mistakes stemmed from over-confidence, not bad defending. Got forward well and made timely challenges. Encouraging.

Corluka - 8

MOM. Makes up for his lack of pace with intelligent positioning. Kept them quiet.

Woodgate - 7

He and Corluka look a great partnership but they may need pacey full backs to cover for the lack of speed.

Bentley - 5
Pressure seems to be getting to him. He's a yard off the pace right now, maybe the only way to improve is by playing games. A shame considering he should be considered a major attacking outlet.

Bale - 6
Worked hard but not exactly a winger. Lack of supply to strikers otherwise good.

Jenas - 6
Didn't support the attack enough but a sound midfield display.

O'Hara - 6
Must stick to playing simple. Worked hard breaking up play.

Bent - 7
Works so hard, if only the supply or developed partnership was there.

Pavlyuchenko - 7
Some nice touches and intelligent runs. A poor man's Berbatov.

Ramos - 6
Balanced side with Bale on the left exposing that we still need a LM, he is much better at LB. Picked O'Hara following his encouraging display against Wisla. Altered things for the better with Lennon and Frazier Fraz although that's more a testament to the players. Huddlestone gave us an extra option without exposing ourselves in attack. We seem to be trying to get the basics right before committing ourselves to a full attacking display. We had a relatively high backline but the link between midfield and attack was, at times, non-existent. Maybe this says as much about the form of our wingers as his tactical prowess.

Subs
Campbell - 7
Frazier Fraz can play! Intelligent, quick, unselfish. Wears a clock round his neck. Convinced he'll be picked for England, one day.

Lennon - 6
Created our best chance almost immediately after coming on. Then gradually faded, partly from the lack of supply.

Huddlestone - 5
Didn't do much but tried.

I wasn't at the game today so had to wait for football first, or as I call it whenever Tony Gale is commentating ****s first. Gale has to be the most biased spurs hating wanker ever. Every piece of action no matter how dreary is slanted against spurs.

Was disapointed to see Zokora at RB and Gunter nowhere. Also disapointed to see Akotto at LB. Akotto is terrible defensively and Zokora is needed in the center of midfield. And I also don't think he is a great RB.

We really seem to have that horrible sign over us at the moment. Wigan are a better side than given credit for and today was always going to be a toughie. Every time I've seen Wigan they have either won or been unlucky not to. And we were ripe for a skanking. Desperation is starting to creep in - some of it our fault as fans - but not helped by Ramos chopping and changing when not necessary and not playing to our strengths when it is vital.

Why start with Bent, he is so limited and his movement so minimal that the midfield are really struggling for an outlet. The only thing he is good at is chasing off the shoulder of the last man and we are not set up to play that way. Ramos must figure this out and quickly. What happens is we end up humping long for him. Pointless.

I really hope we go back to the 451 we started this season with (even if that one is Bent but hopefully not) as this plays to our strengths and allows for some strength and balance.

Ohara is a good pro who gives his all but is not good enough. What he is benefitting from at the moment is Dawson syndrome. You chuck yourself into tackles flying around by the seat of you pants and the lemmings love you.

It's amazing how when you are going through a shit patch things don't roll. West ham flooked two goals yesterday and ManCity stumbled into about 5 today yet we couldn't even get a lear cut penalty. Typical. And worrying

Ratings:

Players 6 - for effort

Fans 1 - that's it lads keep fucking booing them for trying. Lets really make WHL a place we enjoy playing.

The bright spots today were:

Corluka - seemed very comfortable with Woody at the back
O'Hara - at least he tries
Lennon - they were scared every time he had the ball and he won a penalty the pratt of a ref didn't give
Campbell - great attitude and works better with Bent than Pav

The definite low spots were:

Bentley - someone please tell me why we bought this guy ?
Pav - clearly not adjusted to the prem yet and failed to win any headers even against titus bramble

 You seen alot of the Campbell/Pav combo??

I believe he means the Campbell/Bent combo looks more effective than a Pav/Bent combo. Which it does. Hopefully with time the Campbell/Pav combo will get a chance. As for the game Corluka was the bright spot. Gomes too, though his punching is less sunny. Woody was his reliable self, Lennon scared Wigan for 10 minutes and Campbell definitely has a great attitude. On the negative side Bentley's dead ball crosses were very poor, JJ needs to inspire and lead if he is Captain (but he was relatively anonymous), Pav needs time and Ekottu made a few mistakes too many. All in all the team as a whole needs more time to gel and is desperately in need of some midfield creativity in the last third. Patience is the key. Unfortunately, the booing suggests, patience is wearing thin. However that's football today; everyone expects victory but we can't all win. I wonder what the reaction would be if we were to lose 6-0?

The bright spot for me was Corluka. He looked very good. Not fast, but great positioning, which is important and something that our Ledley stand-in certainly needs.
JJ needs to learn how to be a captain. I am sure he'll do it, but its early days and our terrible start can't be helping much. Anyway, huge game against Newcastle and a chance for Jenas, captain of Tottenham, to show his qualities.

I know a lot of people want Lennoon to start, but today he was used exactly how I think he should be at the moment - i.e. impact sup to run at tiring defenders. OK, so it didn't (quite) work, but perhaps we could start with JJ on the right and maybe Gio on the left (with Bale at LB, where he really shines). We have options for the middle, especially if Modric is fit again. Anyway, my point is bringing Lennon on late on is the way to use him, in my opinion, and the reason he was effective last night (except for the PK not being given) was that he was used correcly by Ramos.

from what i saw (the last 50mins) corluka was very calm and in control at CB (thank gawd).

BAE looked ok defensively but he wasted possession so many times when he'd won balls in defence, hoofed it up to no one constantly.

lennon was great, ohara and bent played well and everyone else was ok.

It was a bad game for bale pitty cos I like the guy.

Pos: O'Hara, Corluka, Gomes, Lennon, Bent

Neg: Bale, Bentley, BAE, Pavley, Jenas

Id like to see O'Hara with Modric in midfield, at the MOM Ithink they are the best 2

Seems from the ratings and MOTD that again we weren't too far away. We really need to win a game ugly with someone scoring one of their arse to get us going i think.......
