The beautiful weight on that pass did all the work for the striker... That was gorgeous.

Was he playing on the right or centrally as a AM?
long but very interesting article with marcus giving his first interview since joining excelsior, also gives a great insight into his character.

highlighted a bit where he briefly talks about spurs. i've seen a few accusations with people saying that he's not a spurs supporter or that he doesn't care about the club and that he lacks the drive to want to play for us etc so maybe that will go some way to showing that's not the case.
quiet tonight, his team didn't have much of the ball so he spent the majority of the game defending. they somehow came away with a 0-0 though despite utrecht having 29 attempts to excelsior's three. he's not much use in games like tonight but he had to stay switched on defensively so not a completely useless exercise.
a few clips from his last match. as i said though, excelsior didn't get forward much so he didn't have the busiest of games -
Yes, he'd light up a few flairs.Could have used someone like him off the bench this season. He takes players out of the game and we just don't have that sort of flare in our first team
Is he good at passing the ball, and does he have an good eye? Because players like Eriksen and Silva got physique of a 5 years old girl and it's not so much a problem for them. I really like the way he moves with the ball, must be very annoying playing against him, and think we could have some use for him in future!
Also should be noted that Eriksen is like 7 inches taller than Edwards. Bit of an advantage.
How tall is Messi? How tall was Juninho, Zola?
Height doesn't mean a damn thing if you've got the feet & the brain to use them.

If you want an example from the other end of the scale, Alan Wright was a 5ft 4in LB that played for Blackburn when they finished 2nd in the PL and I remember seeing him a few times missed matched v much bigger players (including peak 6ft 3in Collymore when he was at forest) and the amount of battles he won was amazingIf being the operative word.
Yes, technical ability can make up for a lack of physicality, but the bigger the physical deficiencies the more technical ability you need to make up for it. It's all very well saying Messi and Zola this and that but at the end of the day Messi is in the conversation for best player of all time and Zola was also one of the most gifted players of his generation. They're hardly a typical example/benchmark. They were both so ridiculously good that they couldn't be ignored. Is Edwards really on that level?

played 90 mins vs psv in a 2-0 loss.
not really much to report as predictably psv controlled the majority of the game bar the last 10-15 mins when they took their foot off the gas. marcus had the odd bit of nice play and won a free kick on the edge of the area after a good run but otherwise spent most of the game in his own half again. would love to see him in one of the top sides like psv or ajax but think that would only happen if they could buy him, i doubt they'd be interested in a loan at this point.
excelsior have a run of games now against sides in and around them so hopefully he can spend a bit more time in the opponent's half.
