Wow, that's quite a few 2nd and 3rd votes from coaches and players, albeit less major ones.

Interesting that Robertson didn't pick Klopp in his top 3, but put Ange at 2nd (Pep, Ange & Spalletti).
Klopp wasn't nominated. Those who voted had to choose their top 3 from the 5 nominees: Pep, Spaletti, Inzaghi, Xavi and Ange.

Great!! Now Klopp, and his minions, will demand that Liverpool automatically get 3 points even if they draw or lose, because don't we all kn ow who he thinks he is.........................:censored: Love it! :joyful:

what the fuck has xavi done to be included on that list?
have a name and be associated with Barcelona, the older i get the more i realize what a majority of major Fifa awards are all politics and appeasement of Barcelona/Real Madrid

To be fair to Xavi he's managing a nightmare situation caused by crazy ownership leaving them in a financial mess
They look pretty poor this season but to win the league last season with the resources he had was pretty good going
When we lost Kane we at least were spending good money to build the squad, since they lost Messi they've had to do a lot of creative deals
All while Real Madrid sign Bellingham and get Mbappe pre signed for next season
He's also managing away from Camp Nou and they've really struggled at the Olympic Stadium

Now Ange should be picked above him for the way he transformed us after dominating with Celtic
However I think Xavi is a fair candidate particularly with his limited time in management

According to the BBC Sport transfer info PSG have offered Mbappe 100 million (Euro ?) a year to re-sign with them.

Ange won the treble in Scotland. Gonna have to put him somewhere as Scotland captain.

Apologies for the long post, but for those that are interested, here are some stats I’ve pulled which illustrate just how dominant Ange's style of football is. The stats are all ‘totals’ and the position is how we rank across the top 5 leagues for each metric:

Goals - 6th
Goals from open play - 4th
Goals from set pieces - 5th
Non penalty XG - 7th
Shots - 4th
Dribbles - 2nd
Possession - 9th
Pass accuracy - 9th
Passes - 5th
Progressive passes - 2nd
Progressive carries - 3rd
Touches in opponents penalty box - 1st
Key passes - 3rd
Through ball key passes - 4th
Short key passes - 5th
Assists: 3rd
Assists from crosses: 1st
Assists from corners: 4th
Assists from through balls: 7th
Accurate corners: 8th
Accurate free kicks: 1st
Tackles: 1st
Tackles in final 3rd: 1st
Fouled: 1st
Caught offside: 10th

It’s pretty remarkable to feature in the top 10 across so many areas IMO, particularly in the context of it being Ange’s first season and the team missing so many players.

Some other initial thoughts from the data:

- Our disciplinary record truly is shocking, ranking 11th for yellow cards and 6th for red cards, which is particularly interesting in light of the fact that we are 58th for fouls. We know that a lot of those bookings have been unnecessary (particularly bad challenges, divings, dissent, kicking the ball away) which we need to cut out of our game.
- 2nd in attempted take ons but 60th in % of take ons completed successfully. Backs up the clamour for stronger 1 vs 1 dribblers.
- 12th lowest average age (25.7) which is a significant turnaround in a short space of time (ranked 80th last season at 27.6) and shows what a good job we’ve done with our squad building. Plenty of upside and room for improvement.
- None of our players really feature in the individual top 10 metrics (notable exception being Porro who is 10th on assists) which highlights that our success is derived from the coaching and the collective.
- Easy to understand our interest in Gallagher if you look at the data as he is a reflection of our all action team (only player to register 20+ shots, 20+ chances created, 20+ dribbles completed, 20+ touches in the opposition box, 20+ duels won, 20+ tackles and 20+ interceptions)

Very nerdy. But good nerdy 😉 Quite impressive really and gives hope that I'm not just dreaming that we would be top of the league but for the injuries and suspensions.

Amazing work.

I assume "Goals from set pieces - 5th" includes penalties, as Whoscored has us 3rd for set pieces excluding pens?

I think the take on's v successful dribbles is more to do with style of play, as we have a lot of possession in the opponents half and play a high line with inverted full backs, so the play is very congested, making it harder to dribble. If you look at the teams with a higher success rate, only Man City play a similar style, the other teams play deeper and have more space.

I think the area that the stats show most need to improvement is "Touches in opponents penalty box" (1st) vs "Non penalty xG" (7th). We need to turn that possession in the opponents box into quality chances.

Great piece on the Athletic about the multitude of hamstring injuries at Spurs since Postecoglou took over. No way around it, this has to be added to the stats that accompany his tenure. In a year with no European games as well.
EDIT: I just saw it was posted before. Apologies.
