Surely playing such a defensive setup should make defensive players like Dier look good - not an absolute liability.
Dier has had 2 of his best spells in a Spurs shirt when things were going well under Jose and Conte in very defensive systems.

He got back into the England squad off the back of his form under Conte and when we were top of the league under Jose he had some great back-to-the-wall performances when we ground out results against some top reams.

The problems started when the opposition teams got wise to our systems and/or the systems stopped working. When Dier started actually getting exposed more 1v1 and having to do defending beyond camping in our box, blocking shots and heading the ball away from crosses, he looked dog dirt.

He'll be a huge liability under Ange in a system where he's regularly exposed.

Haven't even heard a credible rumour regarding a CB for a week now. Poor Ange.
I’m reasonably confident Ange is not scrolling through here every day, hoping for a bit of defender ITK! It does feel strangely quiet though. Even the club socials have dropped right off.

Sweet an agreement could be done soon as it could’ve been done a month ago

Something I find odd about footie players. Everything else can go up and down in price/wages . But footballers, if their form collapses or they get less productive due to age/injury
their wage cannot be reduced when going to a new club, it's the law.
What law is that?

Can someone who has watched more Ange systems than me explain what type of ST Ange looks for?

I've seen it said by various "big" Twitter accounts that he looks for STs that get in behind? However, whenever I've seen Celtic play it seems the ball gets wide to the wingers who's job is to beat the man and find the ST with a low cross/pass in the box. Doesn't that mean we need a ST who is a good finisher with both feet, and can find space out of tight spaces?

A ST that gets in behind to me seems more of a counter attacking type ST, but maybe I am wrong.

It's a little bit of both. Its not so much that the strikers get in behind for through balls - its that they play on the shoulder of the CBs -and pushes them toward the goal - opening up space behind the striker for the CMs to play in.

That allows the wingers the option of the low cross into the striker who is crashing the goal, or a cut back to the CMs who are crashing the box in the space created by the striker.

For Kane - he is going to have to learn to stay up top, and not drop back for the ball - since one of his jobs is to help draw the CBs out of position and create space.
