Depends how desperate they get. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did on the last day.
Yeah, could do. He might be very good there, but my feeling is, similar to Payet, he won't really fit in with the style of play. Even if he does go, I can see him wanting to leave after a year or so.

He could take over from Ndombele with the ‘eating’

West Ham have spent somewhere in the region of £125m this summer, if they buy Paqueta at €60m they’d be baring down on £200m, near enough the top spenders over the summer. It’d put them outright top in net spending too. That’s an insane punt and probably won’t make them even the 6th best squad in the league.

Madness. We really need to spend more otherwise it’ll look pretty bad if we are out spent by a few clubs even after our 150m cash injection

eh? why would we look bad compared to other clubs? surely it's the quality and effectiveness of the signings, not the cost.

What I am curious about, is why have we not spent that much money this window? I know it's not about how much you spend, but on who. But you can also do both things, spend a lot and smartly.

All the way up to this window, we were led to believe there was a war chest, that it would be a game changing window, and this was the window to top all windows, the one we had been waiting for. At the moment however, it looks even clubs like West Ham will outspend us. Chelsea definitely will. United too. City and Liverpool won't but then they are the two best teams in the country.

Then again, it does seem like the money is there for the right signing if we can find them. This isn't a moan, just an observation. There was a lot of hype about this window, but we've not actually spent that much at all. It's been pretty frugal and convervative.

In fact I'd say the biggest difference has been we've done deals much earlier in the window. A significant difference, but I don't think the hype about this summer window was because we would do deals earlier, it was supposed to be this big cash injection.

I guess if Conte is happy that's all that matters, but I must admit it expected a bit more money to be spent by us on bigger name signings. Maybe we would have but the Bastoni's wouldn't come off, but then I also think, surely the deals were there to be done if we pushed the boat out financially. Same with Zaniolo.

But it does seem we are working to a strict budget again, and the spending wasn't hasn't been as maybe some of us expected. With european clubs so skint, I don't understand why we can't have made some better offers to get top targets, especially at CB and RF. Our budget doesn't seem to be any bigger than many other PL clubs at all.

tl;dr

But, I would say this - based on the information we have heard, we had two high priority targets - Bastoni and Zaniolo

We did business in other areas with an eye towards those two players. Now, it appears we can't get those players out of Italy -this season. So rather than commit long-term to other targets, it looks like we are waiting to see if anything develops, or find stop-gaps until next summer.

We are also up against a non-HG limit of players, and as we have seen getting players out of the club has been as difficult as getting some in. Movement out, and we are likely to see movement in.

Bissouma and Perisic will be starters
Don’t think you can say with certainty Bissouma will be tbh. I’m hopeful he’ll start soon but I think he would have started by now if Conte viewed him as a decisive upgrade on PEH or Bissouma.

Because it’ll be a stick to beat us as usual… we get a big cash injection and end up spending less than much smaller clubs than us.
It won’t if we win. If Conte thinks he can do that with the squad we have now then let’s have a go. Personally I suspect he’d like one or two more and that’s what we’ll give him by window’s end.

Again with this? Read this before you to bed every morning. Might do you good.

I think there are quite a few on here that don't really understand Conte's MO if I'm honest. They are clammering for the best available player in each position(often without really watching them), but that's not what Conte wants. He asks for players with the skillset best to fit his system and game plan. He's happy to mould and tweak them to fit his style of play as long as they have the required core abilities.

The system and the players ability to execute his game plan are what matters to AC.

No one comes in this window that Conte doesn't want and that is what is most important.

Only if those signings are good quality though. Nobody will convince me that if we end up signing Dan James or Traore that these are good signings and players Conte really wanted. They’ll be budget aisle make do signings.

To complete the squad we need two top quality players, CL quality I mean. Players they belong at that level against that type of opposition. It doesn’t have to be Paqueta, but they need to have some pedigree.

We shouldn't compare ourselves to other clubs or worry about what they're doing if we're confident in our own business.

If Bastoni, Gvardiol or Bremer were available or willing to come I'm sure we would've signed one, or maybe even two, of them for big money. Same for Zaniolo or perhaps even someone like Hakimi if they were available.

But if we can't get players that Conte actually wants what are we meant to do? Sign players Conte isn't fussed about just so we can boast about the size of our bollocks to West Ham fans who, let's remember, are bottom of the league?

Better to sign the right players than sign players solely to appease the fans, or even worse, impress opposition fans.
