~£35m looks a great price for him. Would love us to get involved. If Zaniolo were to happen it would have by now.

Don't want to play the 'lack of ambition card' but would be galling to see us sign Dan James or even Adama with this guy going to West Ham.

Ahh this one would be excellent for us. He can play off the right, in a midfield 2 or 3. Would fit into our system (IMO), or if we decide to change systems. Very skillful, eye for goal.

I know there have been no concrete links to us, so it looks highly unlikely. But we can still hope.

Spammers building a strong squad there and are certainly putting a bit more cash in there. Not sure theyll outperform next season however.

If we end up with some random shit homegrown winger because they’re big and fast instead of signing someone like Paqueta it’s going to be really frustrating.
Window started very well but there are still serious gaps in real quality to be filled and I sincerely hope we’ve something up our sleeves.

If Conte wanted him or thought he’d work for his system, we’d sign him in a second at that price. He clearly doesn’t, so it’s a non issue. We’re missing out on nothing

We could step in at any minute and take him if we wanted too. Let's see what happens.

Some sense of entitlement on here. like other teams aren't allowed to buy good players lol
Don’t think it’s entitlement? Merely a bit strange when he looks like he suits our needs but instead we are getting linked with Dan James.

Stop being so rational!! It’s all about the big name glamour signing not one the manager wants and fits the team he is building!

Im not sure that’s necessarily correct.

There are scenarios (althought im not saying it’s probable) in which Paqueta was a 2nd or 3rd choice behind someone like a Zaniolo. We were holding out hope these preferred options would work out, it’s looking unlikely so we could theoretically move to a less desired option in Paqueta. Especially if it seems we have a chance of losing out on Paqueta as well.

I’m not saying it’s likely, but I wouldn’t be so unequivocal re: non interest.

I think it’s just hard to get your head around why paqueta can’t fulfil the needs of the player conte is looking for.

But i appreciate that just because he looks good for another team, it doesn’t mean he’ll do the same for us

I love Conte but he isn’t perfect and it’s possible to support him and also wonder why we’re making certain choices.

Let’s say we sign James over Paqueta, are you seriously telling me you wouldn’t stop for a second and wonder why?

As with every club, we haven’t signed plenty of players this summer who might have improved us. Doesn’t mean every single one of those players shouldn’t have been signed.

Conte also wanted Drinkwater, Bakayoko, and Morata once upon a time.

Managers aren't always the best when it comes to recruitment.

This is where Paratici and the new scouting team need to earn their money by identifying suitable alternatives.

I agree and he does seem perfect for what we feel we lack, and at a good price. But the manger obviously has a better idea than us so guess we just have to hope he gets what he wants, which he has done so far.

Would love to bring Paqueta in, someone to really get excited about - although it comes with the settling in risk we haven't really signed anyone this Summer who has given me the phwooooar factor.
