I challenge anybody to make a youtube video of Bentley last season making him look class. I don't think it would be possible that goal a side he did sweet FA

Listening to a radio show over here in France featuring 4 know-it-alls chatting with each other about who's getting transferred where, and not the slightest peep about Cana to Spurs, unfortunately. They have him possibly going to Hamburg for 6M euros.

OM has just signed Lucho Gonzolez for 17M euros, by the way. Lots of people on here were dying for us to sign him once upon a time. Guess that might free up Cana.

Cana's a decent footballer, he was linked to us last year when we were crying out for an enforcer and I wanted him then, if he's available for £6m we should definately sign him, he's wicked in the tackle and can pass and shoot as well.

6m sounds like a steal then..

At least we would have 2 DMs that we could rotate out to cover our suspensions from yellow/red cards.

Trying to pass through a midfield of Cana and Palacios would be like trying to dance through a meat grinder.

Does it feel like the new obfuscation technique to keep our transfers on the low down is to just spread rumors like crazy? How can anyone see any fires from all this damn smoke.

OM WOULD LET CANA LEAVE

Posted 28/06/09 17:11

Marseille will not stand in the way of captain Lorik Cana if the midfielder decides to leave the Stade Velodrome.
Cana has been an ever-present for OM since joining from Paris St Germain in 2005 and has played over 100 league games for the Ligue 1 giants.
Reports suggest the Albania international is keen to move on, with Tottenham, Liverpool, Everton and Bundesliga sides Hamburg and Wolfsburg said to be interested.
OM sporting director Jose Anigo claims they would not force the 25-year-old to see out the remaining three years of his contract.
"It's not that he's shown his desire to leave," Anigo told L'Equipe.
"It's simply that at a given moment it's been four years that Lorik is here and he has the right to want to experience other things.
"Today we're open to his transfer, if something happens we'll listen."

I'm thinking Cana > Cattermole. For the price we'd be mad not to consider him.

it certainly seems harry is after a tough tackling DM, and personally i think this would complement our squad nicely alongside palacios, jenas and hudd, allowing us to sell ohara and zokora. i suspect the worry at the moment is that if palacios is missing we are suddenly back to being a bit weak in the middle again. Plus the option to play 2 aggressive CMs for tough away games. good idea i reckon, and also allows us to slim down the squad a bit with 2 out, one in.

I have been critical of Cana and particularly his tackling and it is true that I would be more happy if we brought in someone who was a distributor of the ball than another tough tackler. However what Cana does reportedly have that we still lack in our squad is leadership qualities. Almost everything I have heard about him suggests he leads by example, takes defeats as a personal insult and takes pride in winning.

Even though Palacios is a tough tackler and brilliant at what he does, he still isn't a leader and we don't have one in the middle of the pitch. The link to Cattermole is a further example of the type of character that Harry is looking for in the centre of the park.

Pretty certain we are looking for a natural leader, a left winger and a big target striker.

If that leader is Cana and the cost isn't too high, I'd be happy enough. As others have mentioned at least we wouldn't return to being spineless when Palacios is out and it would give us huge bite in the centre even if we would lack a bit of guile. I suppose if you put the likes of Modric, Joe Cole, Robben etc. in front it would work ok.

Like the look of him. Would allow Modric/Lennon plus any potential creative signings the freedom of the final third of the pitch..

Having just watched everything i could find on you tube i think he would be a dreadful signing. He has the distribution of zokora with the tackling of vinnie jones. I would love to see him smash into fabregas and he would become a cult hero but much in the same way as freund did.

Marseille have just signed Lucho Gonzalez, who is Cana's replacement.

I'm so hoping tomorrow he'll join Spurs. Bring him home, Harry!

That report could very easily read......

Tottenham are facing a surprise battle with Manchester City to secure the signature of Marseille skipper Lorik Cana. Midfielder Cana has made over 100 appearances for the French club, but is ready for a new chapter in his career and would relish a move to the Premier League.Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp thought he had the edge as he looks to strengthen a midfield amid uncertainty surrounding the futures of Didier Zokora, Jermaine Jenas and Tom Huddlestone.

But City boss Hughes is now considering switching his attention to the 25-year-old defensive midfielder after transfer target Felipe Melo signed a contract extension at Fiorentina.

Cana said: "The door remains open for a departure, even with three years remaining on my contract.

"I will talk with my family and my representatives. It will then depend on what I want to do. I believe that if I want to leave, everyone at this club will respect my decision."

Marseille Sporting Director Jose Anigo revealed the club are willing to listen to offers for the Albanian international.

Anigo said: "It's simply that it's been four years that Lorik has been here and he has the right to want to experience other things.

"Today we're open to his transfer, if something happens we'll listen."

There is nothing to the scum interest, as I say, just add any team you like to that story and it's 'news'
