If the yanks are still in charge ater the transfer window finishes in august it's difficult to see them being able to hold on to their best players and signing anyone.

Don't do it Rafa! take the buggers to the cleaners.

How much should he be getting from them because he is getting the sack?
I cant remember how much it was reported, just know its a lot more than £3m

Even if he does go, do they have the cash to pay another club to buy their manager? or who is about that would take over as the new manager?

I cant think of anyone who would be better

£16 million was quoted on Sky or the BBC I believe. Has Grant been officially named Wet Spam manager yet?

Yeah Baron Silas Greenback has just been appointed to the Spammers so that rules him out. There is also the fact the club is up for sale and would a top manager want to go to Liverpool with all this turmoil. It's looking likely that King Kenny will take an interim role possibly till the club is sold.

We have no chance on Torres. The best clubs in Europe will come in for him.

You say that, but Torres has played in the premier league the last two seasons and knows the way we play. So we have more of a chance of tempting him then lets say Silva.

I'm not saying it will happen, and if he goes anywehere I think it will be Chelsea but I think we have more of a shout for Torres than some of the players who play in other leagues who won't know us

For all that I suspect that he is the only thing holding that club together at the moment.

I went to a Liverpool forum last night and was surprised that 99% were actually disappointed that Rafa was leaving. The overwhelming opinion was that he represented the heart and best interests of the club against the two owners. There was barely a bad word against him...in fact many were hoping that he would hold out for more than 3m such was their spite against H&G.

Haven't Liverpool got to find around 100million by the start of the season, to service their RBS debt?

Basically they won't have Gerrard and Torres, won't have any money for new players, won't have a high profile manager and won't have many decent 'homegrown' players for their 25 man squad

They are going to be so shite next year

Agree, they will struggle badly. There are few top quality managers around, although perhaps that will change after the WC, but then that gives them little time to get someone in, leaving Sammy Lee in charge for a while

Torres will be off, probably to Chelsea or City. Gerrard will be gone to, again with either Chelsea or perhaps Real.

Leaving a fairly broken shell of a team.

The player we really should go after there though is Kuyt, who i think is exactly the type of holding, physical striker we need.

In fact Kuyt and Huntelaar would work very well in a team together.....IMO.....

I wonder if Liverpool will go for Kevin Keegan? A Liverpool legend who they could appoint without having to pay compensation to anyone.

Edit - Keegan 150-1. Got to be worth a quid.

Wasn't Jurgen linked with the Liverpool job a few times? His odds have just dropped from 25-1 to 14-1. He's available as well isn't he?
