Of course Orient want a postponement not a cancellation - for them it’s the difference between £125k and £0 when every penny counts.
The rules of the completion are clear though - Orient should forfeit if they can’t field a team; and Public Health England should stop them fielding a team given the sheer number of cases in their organisation.

Orient’s recklessness in playing Mansfield despite the entire team being unwell yet not covid tested is a separate issue, but it certainly doesn’t make me look at the main issue above with much sympathy for them.

The Orient coach came out on the 19th saying that the team has been badly affected by illness but it was "not a COVID issue for any of us to worry about". How did he know that if they weren't even testing?

That deserves a 'what the actual fuck?!' rating but for him, not you.
What a bunch of idiots, from the top down to the individuals involved.

Not like we put the money up for testing, or one of our players paid to have their shirt sponsor... But no, we are out to screw the lower league team

Gutted for the Os but self-inflicted by the look of things.

Shame Levy doesn’t have the time to commission Nike to produce a 4th kit, the Bio-Secure Away kit - that could have been an essential for the fans too the way it’s fkin going back there!

And we should give them 100k compensation? I mean seriously, "when i don't test i can not have the virus" deserves to be kicked out the competition.

The FA is a multi billion pound organisation, would have been too much to ask for them to have a contingency fund for situations like this? It is obvious this is going to happen over and over again, and I have a lot of sympathy with the likes of Orient who will lose out financially through no fault of their own. The FA should step up and look after those affected.

We're doing this.

If it's cancelled, we're having a fake match thread and I fully expect everyone to get involved.
You should have everybody write a one line comment for the duration of the match to make up an entire 90 mins (obviously need half time for ranting too) like the old writing a story game. One sentence per post maximum and nobody allowed to post twice within the same 20 posts or something.

Why is postponing unfair to us? (Not necessarily disagreeing, just interested to why you think that)
Because like someone mentioned, the re-scheduling will trickle down and affect rest of the teams along the subsequent rounds, and thereby our preparations for them as well, if we progress.

Even for this round in mind, the squad would have the necessary adjustment made already. Not that it had an effect on our previous game against Southampton now that we won, but imagined if we actually reserved some players, maybe Dele because of this, and lost the game then.

My point is this postponement will affect us far greater than we could have expected, especially we are having Europa qualifiers to contend with as well. Is not like our next game is in another week, where the squad selecting consideration is not as crucial.

It’s clear they are in desperate need of the money, so cancelling it is their least desired option.

Their chairman is hoping for the game to be postponed, but logistically that’s a nightmare, especially in today’s uncertain climate.

Safety of all those involved on match day is imperative. If they have enough healthy players, is it even safe to play at there ground or is there an option to play at our ground?

It’s a difficult situation, but cancelling the game and us getting the bye seems the most likely scenario. Especially when going by the wording of the rules of the tournament that someone posted earlier in the thread.

So players that were ill also played in the actual game against Plymouth too. Fuck me. I don’t buy it that it wasn’t COVID related like he says in that clip. Are they lying because they’ve got caught out I wonder? Plus Plymouth and whoever they have played since need to all test themselves before playing again.

If this thread doesn’t end 0-0 then you’ve all clearly got carried away to fantasy land and have no grasp on reality at all.
