Ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha, ooohhhhh dear. Sorry that line about Welbeck was f in hilarious. Difficult to know what to say about Holtby. Good player no doubt but how many midfielders do we need?

Needs a run in the team like Bentaleb got, his enthusiasm, graft and quality will shine through.

It's best not to leave Holtby on the bench as he has a tendency to send inappropriate pictures: he can be a right knob at times!

Holtby was a bit hit and miss on the pitch but the thing that really made him stand out was his enthusiasm and the smile on his face when he played. Team spirit could certainly do with a lift. I hope he gets a proper chance because I think Pochettino's style will suit him.

Obviously we all like to see him make it with us. Even if he doesn't he'll still be valuable and Levy will make a tidy sum selling him.

Lewis is a great fit for Poch's high-press system (quite similar to the style of football he played at Mainz under Tuchel, where he was incidentally the key cog in the attacking trident w/ Shurrle). (y)

Really hope he shows his full potential with us next year.

His positive attitude and genuine smile always rubs off on everyone in the dressing room. That alone is worth keeping him.

Pochettino built his Southampton team around pressing the opposition high up the pitch, which required superb fitness, good stamina and enthusiasm – all qualities of 23-year-old Holtby.

This is certainly so, but Holtby has to learn to measure out his enthusiasm, i.e., to pace himself. There were many games when he hared about like a lunatic for 60 minutes and had to be substituted because of exhaustion.

There's enthusiasm and then there's being mental.

I think he's a better, classier player than he's shown for us so far, except in brief glimpses. He has a vision of the game and a very good first touch. But he ought to slow down just a touch, conserve his energy and use his vision a bit more and his lungs a bit less.

Adding Spanish words to your vocabulary: I see you're fully getting behind our new manager.
True my wife is Latino and I work in Houston most of the time so it's easily done. Please forgive my Spanglish ...por aploholby

He should be a perfect for a high pressing team. Under AVB we seldom managed to master that game for more than a few halves/games.

The first half against Everton away, where we pinned them in their own half for about 60 minutes, we did this well, and Holtby played a very good game.

But in too many games, he was the only one pressing with the right intensity, which makes him look like a headless chicken and easily bypassed.

I really hope Lewis is given a chance by Poch. I thought it was a mistake to loan him out to be honest.

Ramsey had a couple of season until he became the player his is today, and they are both the same age (23). Holtby only joined in Jan 2013 and he has experienced 2 managers, half a season on loan and wholesale changes at the club. His passion and enthuiasm is there, and you dont captain the German under 21's team if you're an "average" player. I think he'll come good, and in the mean time he's happy to be a squad player, and even go out on loan elsewhere to return and make it into the first 11. We need players like this in the team/squad.
