Harry Redknapp eyes Kevin Doyle as a replacement for Robbie Keane at Spurs

If Wolves pursue their bid to sign Robbie Keane, Harry Redknapp could be swapping one Irish international for another during the January transfer window.

With Keane set to depart White Hart Lane in the New Year following his inability to secure a place in Tottenham's first team under Redknapp this season, Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has indicated that he remains interested in the 30-year-old striker who he came to know well when he was at the helm of the national squad.

And if Keane does move to Wolves, it's understood that there could be a case of a straight swap between the two Irish forwards - despite the fact that McCarthy would ideally want to replicate their International partnership and pair the two of them at Molineux.

But just as McCarthy is a fan of Keane, Redknapp is known to be an admirer of Adamstown-man Doyle. Back in 2008, Harry tried to lure him from Reading on the final day of the August transfer window, and that was before Doyle made his mark with McCarthy's Midlands' team.

For both men, a move would mean a considerable change in their circumstances, with a pay hike for Doyle and an inevitable drop in wages for out-of-favour Keane.

Doyle is curently on €25,000 per week, whereas Keane commands €77,000 per week.

Good, honest, hard-working striker, but a lower half PL club is about his level. No, thanks.

Doyler's a good honest footballer, but I'm very surprised to see he's been capped 4 times for Spain!

Would work well with defoe or VDV i think, but surely we can do better. May be worth a punt though if we cant get anyone better in Jan

As a straight swap it isnt a bad deal, but a world class striker he aint. It depends if Pav leaves us as well. He is a good hard working player who will do alot better with the service that our team would give him. Worth a shout if we get him cheap

He would be an improvement on any of our target men. Literally has to do everything at Wolves , Starts most moves which is why his goals scored tally is low. Put him up top in the Spurs team and he will score 15-20 a season. He is a nightmare for centre halves. As a straight swap for Robbie I think it would be a shrewed piece of business.
He's a real battering ram of a player

Good little player but I suggest we want a significant improvement and not someone who is almost the same level as our current strikers. He doesn't even havee the big game experience those in our squad do.
If Keane goes and we get an injury then can't buy a top striker that's the only scenario I can see for this.

Someone said a couple of weeks back we're going for a big name. Doyle will be a better 4th option than Keane.
