Mixed feelings about this really. Yes, naturally, I feel pity for anyone who's a homeless, alcoholic gambler (both habits are very hard to cure, just look at Greavsie, Georgie, Gazza). But then again, he have only himself to blame, as I am sure there were people there ready to help him.
Samson is easily one of the best FB England have ever produced.

Yep I agree to a certain extent, Though the same could be said of Gazza as well and yet there is more of an extended arm to Gazza and this sort of stuff regarding Sansoms plight gets brushed away somewhat.

The comments below that were not great. There are certainly some sad people out there.

The guy needs help. As a Spurs fan I wouldn't cross the road to say hello to him, but as a human being I've only got sympathy. For those with no habitual tendencies then it's easy to cast about comments. But for those that are affected - it not only affects them but their families too. I wish him all the luck and hope he receives the help and support he needs.

Support for teams shouldn't even come into it. The guy needs help.
Was that a reference to "when football should take a back seat" ? I meant that as we should forsake our football and support these kind of issues...Sorry, I could of worded that better.

Did anyone see Ledley king on Sky Sports 92 Clubs in one day today? They had a bit about the under-soil heating system. Ledley in a live interview said "there is something living down there!" Did he mean Kenny Samson?

Hmmm my dad used to be friends with this guy and he used to come round our house and give me and my brother his childrens really nice clothes that they grew out of, and he even bought us food for christmas dinner when my dad lost his job one year (ahem, i'm not poor now though btw...) so this story makes me very sad even if he was a gooner - It's amazing how a life can be turned upside down!

This.

If anyone is in a position to help this man, they should.

Wish I could.

dont give a toss, nothing to do with him being a gooner either. the man had it all and gambled it all away. why does he deserve any sympathy? he will probably get plenty of help from the football world now anyway, probably more than he deserves.

I think people are only there to help when it's too late, that's the problem. I'm sure there were plenty of hangers on around him who have long since moved on. He's a grown man however and at the end of the day is responsible for himself, hope he sorts himself out.
