And what exactly is our budget?

Unless your DL, then nobody really knows what our budget is.
That's the struggle for me with all this, we haven't the first clue, and as ever and Levy with the ambiguous nature that transfer windows seem to roll, we're just left wondering about every link.

Then again, that's always been the same so that's just me grinding my teeth because transfers.

The CL is worth between £40M and £100M per year depending on how far we get in it, plus the secondary income associated with being a CL team through better sponsorship deals, increased gate receipts etc. Levy has been at pains to say that our business model deliberately does not rely on it (and that is why he is conservative with his spending - effectively to date we have spent like a non-CL club), but he must have got used to the additional income for the last 4 years. It will be interesting to see if he is willing to spend heavily now to chase 4th as with the current squad we have little chance of finishing top 4 without new faces!

Ok you're right, I can't answer that. I'm not DL and I don't work in the accounting department... So I'm guessing a budget like everyone else for the sake of discussion. Considering the estimated values of our reported transfer targets, my opinion based on past trends is that you don't have to be DL to know it's unlikely we'll spend circa 150 million to address our several different positional issues in January, especially coming off of a summer where we've seen a record net spend. I'm sure they'll be money to spend as per ITK, but anything too far beyond the reported 70m-80m for Koulibaly seems extremely unlikely to me. Even if there's going to be a winter miracle and we're looking at spending around 100-120m, buying Koulibaly would eat up the majority of that budget and would likely price us out of a move for a high quality midfielder, rb, and/or forward in today's market. For reference, last January the combined spend for the entire EPL was 180m.

Roll on the optimistic ratings, but I foolishly believe tight arse will back Jose.
He could have kept Poch who basically toed the line if he wanted a yes man. Jose will not tolerate this lot forget what he said when he arrived.
Levy has no choice as everything is begining to come home to roost.

Whatever happens, I hope it happens quickly. It’s not like Napoli have a contract/gun to their head to sell - this isn’t going to be a Levy special.

Figure out their price and decide whether it makes sense. If not, move on. It’s not like they’re going to come crawling to us on Jan 31 and say that they’ll sell him for 40M.

If Levy and Jose think he’s the ticket to Top 4 (personally I disagree, but so be it), they need to act quickly or the hole will be too big.

I imagine Jose would have had some assurances in regards to transfers. If Levy betrays him then I expect him to start talking and perhaps even walk.

Levy is alot of things but a fool he is not.
Surely he wouldn't have employed a coach so confrontational, a coach who doesn't accept second, if he had no intention of backing him, that really would be insane.

Agreed but will he do it in January or the summer.

Someone, somewhere made a deal with the devil if we went from mid-table also-rans (with the odd flirt with relegation) to CL regulars without any investment in the team.

i love this type of reply, ignoring the 18 months we went without spending.
and when did he spend that £100m? 2 of the purchases lastminute.com #ClassicLevy
Can't argue with the first part, second part makes little difference considering one was injured and was on the rehab table up until the end of September and the other has only just started to see playing time while also suffering an injury that kept him out 2+ weeks.

Might as well not bothered with either of them eh? I mean the loan deal for Lo Celso is pointless if we don't buy him, might as well just gone ahead with Ceballos and fluffed that chicken for Real, least it would have only been 14 mill for the season ...

We must have had some either pie in the sky targets that previous 18 months or we literally didn't scout anyone that wasn't a target for one of the god tier teams.

We should have sold Dele and Eriksen when we had the chance. Grealish and Barkley now, throw in the fullback at Leicester and we'd have won the league - oh and we could have saved billions if we had just stayed at the Lane. What a fucking waste of 5 years.

The fact that we done it last minute meant that we got them for a much better price than was asked for

Yet again - lastminute.com deals were because Sessegnon was carrying a bad injury so why buy a player and pay his wages while he's in recovery. LoCelso had a mandatory lay off after an international Cup competition and couldn't play or train for that period. Those are the facts but they don't fit the 'lets chuck shit at Levy' agenda.

You saw how bad Winks was today right? And that when he went off and Lo Celso and Lamela came on we were much, much better?
I actually think Winks did OK, a lot more forward thinking than of late.
I agree that it changed when Lamela and Lo Celso came on but that was also down to a bit of a system change too.

Anyone doing the ignoring is you fella.....

I was merely pointing out to the poster the FACT that we had just spent 100m thus providing evidence of investment , as the poster had said it was at zero.
Try reading what i was answering before adding sarcasm, i am not happy with our spending over the last 18 months or where we are btw...

As for the 100m......you do the sums....Ndombele 67m + Sess 30m+ Clark 9m plus GLC ''loan.

keep up.
