For all the people worried about his height I'm quoting my own post from page 7. His height really isn't an issue, he is excellent in the air and is the ideal partner for Romero. I doubt we will get both, but if we do we could end up with one of the best partnerships in Europe.

I think it’s a valid concern if you a poster who isn’t an expert on the player. What I don’t get is people getting so defensive about people asking the question about a player we don’t look like signing right this moment.

Thanks for the summary though btw. The PL is like no other league. It really isn’t.

Surely in today’s premier league it’s better for a CB to be able to deal with the tricky skillfull forward trying to twist them inside out or beat them for pace.
The days of dealing with big lump target men seems increasingly in the past

That is a good point, but set pieces are still very important with a lot of mid table lower teams targeting that area. Plus with Lloris not being particularly dominant of his penalty area we could do with a commanding CB.

However, it doesn’t even seem to me that we’re close to signing him anyway.

Classic. We’re being linked with a defender we can only dream about and people are worried about how tall he is. Mental.

He‘s easily capable enough in the air. He’s got good presence from what I’ve seen.

‘I could have sex with a super model tonight…but I’m not going to because brunettes aren’t my thing’. Get a grip.

Would be an extraordinary signing

He would also be the perfect calm, quick, ball playing CB to play alongside Romero and cover the spaces he'll leave when he bursts forward to challange. They'd have a really good balance.

Don't think it will happen but if we ended up with Romero and Kounde as our CB pairing then that would/could be top 5 in Europe level.

"I know, I'll check the player thread and see some serious discussions of the player, his strengths and how he would fit for us"

There were height jokes?

I didn't get any of them, must have been way over my head.

Madrid will be all over this as soon as they sell Varane. The same guy who said we bid 50+Sanchez said Madrid bid 50+Mariano a month ago so don't see why they wouldn't come back in once they have the Varane $. Also indicated Sevilla would only accept the release clause from Madrid...no negotiations with them.

Wouldn't be surprised if Madrid have been in his ear and told him they'll move for him as soon as Varane is moved on. Been mentioned Paratici sets deadlines for targets so I'd imagine we'll know fairly soon as to whether this is a goer or is dead and we move onto someone else. Beginning to think it's probably more unlikely.

There’s no way Madrid will get anything near that, he’s in the last year of his contract.

Also, they’re in lots of financial difficulties.

The guy has a definite offer from Spurs but the sands of time are running out as Fabio's deadline gets nearer whereas the Real Madrid situation is reliant on two things, Varane's sale and them keeping their word. Every day Spain stays quiet puts more pressure on him. We will know for sure what's happening by next weekend at the latest I reckon.

Point was if they bid 50+player a month ago, the rumoured €45m they're getting for Varane would cover the rest. Not suggesting they're getting €80m for Varane

Daily Mail are saying United are now interested in him
Not sure it's true but think about it, that would likely mean Madrid are keeping Varane so it's Manchester or London. I know it's United but we've been in for him all along and we're offering Sanchez, there's a reason he's not gone yet, plus money, are United going to be able to top that for what would be their back up option. The Sanchez card puts us firmly in the frame with Sevilla as if they sell Kounde elsewhere they're down a CB and they sure ain't getting Sanchez.

Its bullshit, the mail say he'd be in addition to Varane, which makes no sense

Don’t want Utd to sign Varane, cos then Madrid wil want Kounde.

Best for us if it all drags and crashes, and he decides to choose us as we really want him.
