I don't think his all round ability is good enough to be honest, yeah he scores some goals but whenever I've seen him play a full 90 I'm always disappointed! It also doesn't surprise me that he was not picked by Mexico in the World Cup!

Oh yeah, because 3 strikers is enough. What's wrong with a 4th?

It is if you are only going to play one up top and have players like Lamela and Chadli that can provide cover there at a push.

CF can wait until next season. If Poch can keep Adebayor happy, there is nobody better out there who would come to us anyway.

There is a risk in each and every one of our strikers. Soldado could suck again. Ade could go back to his old ways. And as for Kane, he's simply not proven.

You don't make a single position group four deep for those kinds of "ifs" and "maybes".

For one thing you'd be throwing money down the drain at three guys not playing. For another the guys not playing wouldn't be too happy.

Does Chicharito strike you as some reliable striker to shore up this group or is he just as inconsistent (if not more so) than the rest?

Have to admit I'm a big fan of Hernandez, I think his movement is top class & he's very good at creating space for others, in fact when it comes to movement in the penalty box I think only Falcao & Van Persie's is better, he's definitely not another Defoe, all you have to do is look at his pass completion stats to knock that argument out of the park. I honestly think he could be like Sturridge has for Liverpool, he just needs a run of games to start scoring regularly, in 8 starts he had 3 assists albeit only 1 goal however the season before he had one of the highest goals per minute ratios of any striker in a European lg, I think only David Villa had better.
He has his faults of course mainly his first touch isn't always the best & he get's caught offside to often plus he could work harder nonetheless he has a lot of qualities that would benefit the team at the price he would be available at I think it would be worth signing him, If we could get to a stage where we had Soldado, Jay Rodriguez & Hernandez as our striking options I think we would have all the basis covered in striking options & with Rodrigues playing as a LF we would be able to give them all sufficient game-time to keep them happy.

You'll have to rephrase that I'm afraid.

Did you really think I was suggesting that we only play him and never the other three?

Of course he could shore up the group, any striker in the world would shore it up just by the fact that they would give us an extra option. I'm not saying he's a world beater. I'm saying we could do a whole lot worse. I can't see how anyone can be comfortable going into this season with those 3 strikers alone. I'm scared shitless TBH. Sports Science did an interesting profile on Hernandez:

We couldn do a lot worse than him as a goalscorer, but in Poch's system i couldn't think of many players WORSE than Hernandez.

Poch wants his centre-forward to be the first line of defence, closing down, working side-to-side, presurring the defence.

Hernandez is your old Gary Lineker/Miroslav Klose type. Strolls around doing naff all but when that ball gets fired into the box, he's just somehow always there!

We'd have been better off spending the money on Griezmann, that way we would have goals and a lw/aml creative player
Don't really see the point in Hernandez, both Soldado and Ade are better

I was dead dead keen on him a few years ago. I thought we really should have swooped hard for him at the time RVP went to UTD whenever that was (2 seasons ago?) because at that time he must have been unsettled wondering where his next game was coming from. As it turns out, his not moving has definately made him lose form to the point now I think he'd find it difficult to fullfill his potential again
