This highlights to me the problem with playing European games as opposed to a team not playing one. Liverpool had all week to work on their tactics against us, spending as much time as they like to analyse how best to approach our team and individual players. We on the other hand probably spent one day preparing for Liverpool.

although i think this may well be the case during the latter stages of the competition, i doubt the game against ael had any bearing on our prep for liverpool. we already knew all we needed to about ael, we'd just beaten them and we were in a comfortable position so there wasn't a great deal else we needed to know. i imagine we'd have been working fully towards liverpool behind the scenes.

I would imagine he will be earning his dollar this season with the CL. I'm not sure there will be too much Brendan will need to be told about the likes of Rooney or Toure.

It is an interesting read for sure. Again though all this information is fed to one man. And Rodgers is the one making the decisions.

Not necessarily, obviously some sort of preparation was needed before sending the team out to play AEL, I doubt very much that Poch would have just said go out and run about a bit. Some time would have been spent giving instructions to players, watching DVDs etc (see Verts thread for quotes) so no matter how big or small the preparation would have been it meant Liverpool had an advantage over us.

Good read but nothing really new here is there? Surely every club has an opposition scout.

Chris was in my year at school (Parmiters in Watford, same school that Tom Carroll, Nathan Byrne and another Spurs youngster whose name now escapes me all went to), nice chap who fully deserves all his success. He was an exceptional footballer as well but had his career cut short due to injury, Wales captain at every age group up to U20 I think.

Yeah but if he was our manager............ we would all love him.
I wonder how different things would have been after Harry was sacked and we were so well placed had Rodgers replaced him and AVB gone to Liverpool

I'm certain we'd be a CL outfit right now and Liverpool would probably have rehired King Kenny or something equally as stupid
