I think it could be a blessing in disguise. He is clearly fatigued and needs a rest. Jansen was bought to score and he won't do that from the bench.

Harry comes back in 4 or 5 weeks rested and raring to go.
I can, from the top of my mind, not remember any one time over the last 3-4 seasons that a player came back from an injury and was better than before the injury.

SSN had a stat yesterday that said on average over the last couple of years Kane has played once every 6 days.

For an early 20-something professional athlete, that does not sound a lot to me.

What needs to said is that mental fatigue unlike physical fatigue manifests differently and is harder to measure accurately. Physical fatigue can be noted and measured with heart rate variability, blood testing etc among other tests. As far as mental fatigue, the onus is on the player to fill out an survey noting how they feel, maybe sit down with the team sports psychologist/coach and let them know they feel mentally drained in the hopes of finding a solution. Issue is not to many players/athletes do this as their concern is that they might be labeled as mentally weak/ lacking bottle, so they suffer in silence and play through all of it. We can all agree in the short span of 6 games he's played so far, Kane hasn't looked like his usual self. He has not looked as assured and his energy levels have diminished. I fully believe dealing with criticism from the Euro's, a full season of being our lone FWD ,wanting to maintain the same standards and hopefully replicate his top scorer performances in the League/Champs League, knowing that he is essentially our talisman and the fact that he's going to be a father in Jan/Feb have had a impact on him and we were seeing the symptoms of that in his performances.

Fuck me he's only turned his ankle. The only reason you can't remember anyone who came back better after injury is because you're only taking into account serious long-term injuries ie. broken legs, broken ankles, cruciates. Just from Tottenham I can remember Dembele and Walker coming back from injuries better than they were prior to the injury.

I really don't see how that's possible

I just don't buy into this such a blessing in disguise oh lord how great it is that Harry is injured. Makes little or no sense to me.

Don't know how much rest will help but just bad news no matter how you see it.
In the last game, he's noticeably more confident, holding the ball longer and got more touches, not to mention another goal; really thought he's turning the corner, and then he's off for 2 months and will need to get use to game speed and start over again.

Yeah that's fair enough, I don't think it's a blessing in disguise because he could be out for months and there is at least a chance that it has long-lasting effects. But it's fair enough to try and find a silver lining - Kane has been visibly below-par physically for a while dating back to the end of last season, with no lengthy period of rest in sight, so now he'll get an opportunity to recharge his batteries and come back fresh. It's still shit that he's injured, but there is an upside to it.

Look at it this way - we could potentially have seen Kane playing at 70% all season with no injury, desperately needing the time off he won't get until next summer, and maybe he would 'only' get 10-15 league goals this season. Instead we might now miss him for two months, then have him back at his best for the remaining six months, when he might score just as many, but in fewer games (ideally with Janssen scoring a few in the meantime).

Realistically I don't think we could expect another incredible 20-25 goal season from Kane this year. Whether that's because he stays fit but at 70% fitness all season, or because he misses a couple of months before (hopefully) getting back to his best, IMO it would probably add up to the same thing; unless he was superhuman, this season Kane was always likely to suffer as a result of making himself undroppable over the previous two (along with our inability/refusal to sign an alternative striker, and Kane having no break for two summers due to progressing from the U21s to the senior England side when he did).

Yeah it's a huge blow. A muscle injury keeping him out for a few weeks maybe, but a lengthy absence missing key CL games and potentially lasting into our toughest month of the season fixture wise is a bitch.

There is no guarantee Jansenn will do the business either.

With the way Kane has played so far this season I can live with this as long as Janssen stays fit through the absence.

Luckily did not happen last season!

I reckon it will be December by the time we see Kane again. People need to remember that players very rarely hit the ground running after a long lay off as well, it takes time.

Janssen is certainly going to get a real chance now.

Which might accelerate GKN's presence in the team seeing as Son is closest thing to a backup striker to Janssen.
