was a song in '68 by Bonzo Dog doodah band....
We lost bonzo this summer, and failed to sign a perceived speedy forward. It left a bad taste in my mouth.
So taking a leaf out of Danny Rose's book I thought I would google to see who the current speed merchants were in the EPL
from fairly respectable sources with real research.
Measured in a scientific way ie who was the fastest in a season in the EPL and by club over a couple of seasons.
I found the results stunning, as very few of the so called real speed merchants would have added much to our team, and some of them were already there!
Or we had got rid of:-
The differences were tiny But the list contained names like Lennon, Caulker Routledge,Janssen Ericksen and Sissoko.in addition to Walker!
The differences were tiny, so guess the old adage of the "first couple of yards are in his head holds true..."
To put into perspective Bolt is 10 Kph quicker than anyone and the range for the rest is around about 1.5 KPH
Shane Long was generally the quickest except for Sissoko
so , I attached some links, see for yourselves it's quite an eye opener!

looking at that we do not lack pace
we may lack quick feet or quick minds or skill
In fact breaking it down further 0.2 KPH difference is 200 meters per hour or 3.33 meters per minute or in feet 10 feet per minute
or about 2 inches per second...if my math is right
