Ideas to improve the game?

Does anyone think they have some good ideas to improve the game or is there a tendancy to try and change the game to much?

I was talking to a mate and came up with the idea of changing the League Cup to the British League Cup. This means every player who plays in the competition has to have British nationality. The postives would be that this would aid our player development for the national team, provide a expose to players coming through the system, make the League Cup unique and possibly make it more attractive in winning for the fans.

Nah, score draws should get 2 points, 0-0 draws just 1 point.

i would change the league to the british league cup - but i would have all teams in britain involved. they do the anglo-welsh cup in rugby which is great and i think we should do the same.

re score draws being more points i wouldnt change that - football is about tactics and who is to say an attacking tactic is better than a defensive tactic.

+2pts for a win
+1pt for a draw
+1pt per goal
+1pt per clean cheet
-1pt per yellow card (-5pts if it's for simulation or dissent)
-5pts per red card

Bring back the cup winners cup.
winners of the cup winners cup and Europa cup go into the champions league.
If a team wins the FA cup or league cup and they are outside the top four they get a ten point start for next season. If they are one of the top four they get a 3 point start next season.

Keeprs who hold the ball for way over six seconds to be reprimanded and penalised with an indirect free kick.

Goal kicks from the hand are always taken from the edge of the box and the keeper ends up outside of said box, thus potentially handling it. This is never picked up by the linesman but is cheating.

Increase subs up to five which could change the dynamic of the team and therefore the match.

Well it would certainly make football more enjoyable to watch

Add 1 more player to the team so we can stop this argument for the 4-5-1 formation. Just play 4-5-2 and have done with it.

Post match video to stop simulation.

I was at my parents house recently and watched some of the WC matches. They couldn't stop laughing at the players collapsing aver nothing. It was embarrassing.

I also *hated* explaining to my 7 year old son that the players were cheating. You can't say anything when he can clearly see that the guy on the ground holding his face in fact got a small bump on the arm.

Dive to get your team a penalty = 3 match ban.
Simulation to get another player sent off = 3 match ban.
etc

Let the 4th official make decisions-why go to the expense of buying in all the goaline technology when you have a guy already that sits there during the game doing nothing but is already mic-ed up to the ref? Let the guy watch the game and advise the referee accordingly

could not agree more!
It is crazy how the 4th official is there and has a monitor yet cannot tell the referee the correct decision. totally embaressing. Also yellow cards should be able to be over turned

Watching this rather drab world cup got me thinking about this. My intial thoughts, given the negative tactics of many teams (which happens in the EPL too) is:

  • Make the minimum size of pitches bigger
  • Perhaps restrict one or maybe even two players from each team from retreating in to their own half
  • Find a way of awarding points for goals scored. In a domestic league perhaps 1 point for each 5 goals scored and in the world cup finals, 1 point for every 3 scored.

dont think thats economically feasible given the current climate.

There is no monitor on the touch line of the World Cup or Premier League.
