He dished out two yellows inthe first half, then when Ronaldo made exactly the same challenge on one of our players, he got nothing. Rafael should have got a yellow too.
With that penalty if he thought it was one, Gomes should have got red, we all know it wasn't but his desicion is wrong even if it was.

What a ****. He's always been a ****. fucking ****. Not just the penalty but the way Woodgate and jenas got cards for first offences but Ronaldo, Scholes, Rafael, Vidic were all allowed to kick fuck out of our players scott free.

How the fuck Webb is rated as our top referee is beyond me. I've always thought he was a shit****.

Used to like the guy as a ref, but how anyone can think that was a pen is unbelievable when it happened i wasnt even expecting anything, i wasnt cringing thnking it might be a pen i knew it wasnt and so did everyone in the whole ground. Howard Webb i hope you have a slow and painful death, preferably from AIDS.

shouldn't have been a penalty, then he didnt book ronaldo for the blatant kick on lennon, which would have meant a sending off when he took his shirt off, plus i thought after scholes got booked, when scholes handled the ball the ref put his hand in his pocket as to give him a yellow then realised it would be his second so put it back, plus he was giving them free kicks for tackles we were doing which were identical to the ones they were getting away with, absolute shocker does he support man utd??

Not just us, but Liverpool. If we had won today then that probably would've dealt a big blow to United's stuttering confidence and maybe shifted momentum. Now they have all their confidence back thanks to Mr Webb. Well done. The scousers deserve a Nobel prize if they steal his car.

I hate Rafa but the fat Spanish waiter was correct in speaking out. Fergie has been "killing" the refs for a long, long time. He may not have ordered or bought Webb or anything, but he's had years to build psychological pressure on the referees such that they make stupid mistakes when they usually wouldn't or hesitate to follow their instincts against Manure. I don't doubt that Webb usually tries to do his best at his job, but tonight he was not only incompetent but cowardly.

I'm not surprised Man Utd didn't get many yellow cards as we rarely got a free kick. How the hell did Vidic get away with that tackle on Bent? I must have missed the announcement about the change in the rules whereby Man Utd players are able to take the man and none of the ball.

I just don't understand how these refs keep getting away with it. Every weekend, there are bad decisions after bad decisions and yet nothing is done about it.

I was chatting to an Everton fan in my local shop yesterday evening and when I told him that Howard Webb was officiating the FA Cup Final, he literally turned pale!

Respect the Ref? When I was growing up (not all that long ago, I'm only recently into my 30s), respect was earnt not granted. If referees want us, the players, and the managers to respect them, then they should do their level best to be worthy of that respect.

Replay technology should be brought in now. There is absolutely no justification whatsoever for keeping it out of the game. Other sports have it, tennis and rugby being two notable examples.

The only reason why anyone would not want to bring in video technology is because they want to be able to influence and guide matches by using the referee to alter games as they happen. There is no other plausible reason.

well, the crappy PK aside, Webb didnt concede four more goals. We crumbled, again.

However, there is one set of rules for the top 4, and another for the hoi polloi.

No,no.none of you understand,Webb is our best referee and is beyond reproach. But dont mention,he cost Poland the other week and didnt give Barc a stonewall aginst Munich.English refs are shit. There paid decent money and not accountable.
As for these desicions evening themselves out at,it has to be right ,Mendes goal at Old Trafford cost us Europe a couple of years ago and now it looks like this descion will as well. Now Thats consistency

I'm still angry and can't believe how we lost yesterday, we lost our unbeaten against the top 4 which could be confidence key for the rest of the season, as well as point(s) needed for UEFA cup push.

I'm angry not it is referee decision, i'm angry because it's again vs Man Utd. Hoddle once, Santini once, Jol twice ( Mendes & 0-1 in EPL last OT visit ) and Redknapp twice ( CC final O'Shea red card & now Carrick Penalty ) .. Shocking history.

I like the way they awarded the goal that just went over the line straight away too, reminds me of one at the same end that went over by a foot more a few seasons ago but we didn't get the decision.....
I actually think he is one of the better refs in the PL but he was incompetent today.

I did think that we were getting crunched at every turn in that second half . Scholes was obviously intent on getting his kicks in...he was booked within 5 mins of coming on , so then he could do anything then knowing the ref daren't send him off . It looked like a deliberate policy to physically intimidate us . The fact our defence (from front to back) seemed to cave in was part down to this . The ref didn't seem too concerned about protecting us .

So , in this situation , we needed to bring on a couple more Palacios type players...Hutton at least . Not sure utd would try this tactic against Bolton .

The idea Huddlestone would have helped in this situation, as some have suggested , seems a bit crazy .

you can call a ref incompetent if his incompetent decisions go both ways.

however, when those shit decisions go only in one direction, and that direction happens to be in favor of the home side, who also happen to be Manchester Utd, then what you have is more than just innocent incompetence.

I thought and stll think Webb is a good ref but unfortunately even the best refs have howlers and he had one yesterday.
I won't call them lucky but Man Utd had every bit of fortune yesterday everything went their way, of the other four goals only Ronaldo's was worthy of he name the others were tricklers that on another day wouldn't have gone in and Berbatov's even rebounded off his leg but what is obvious is that we stil allow bad decisions to affect us, whether we feel sorry for ourselves or not I don't know but we need to get stronger mentally.

The penalty seemed to be influenced by carricks appeal which is quite pathetic really, he must've known gomes got the ball but thought lets get back in this game by cheating.. Redknapp also mentioned something about the second goal, how howard webb put the whistle in his mouth to blow for a freekick to us and then just let play go on when he saw man utd were through on goal, if that was the case then hes simply a cheat..
