Sadly we’re back to square one with him again. Let’s be honest, any player that doesn’t please the hive gets it.

Outrageously ridiculous slaggage, abuse, the lot. Over him not leaving for the first offer received. You’d actually cry real tears if a player you wanted upped and left with the speed required of him.

It’s HIS future, he’s entirely entitled to decide where he goes, when he goes and choose something that suits him. Now it might be frustrating if you think it has a bearing on incomings or FFP or any of the other magic things we have no real idea about, but that’s the game. Get used to it.

How any of that rates people giving him a dogs abuse I have no idea.
One of the best postings of the window.

I get so depressed reading people verbally abusing players, who regardless of their ability, have at various times, at least attempted to, put a shift in for our club. You may not think they are good enough but at various times our managers have thought so. They don’t pick themselves.
To me while they wear our shirt they are one of ours and you don’t abuse your own.
In the case of Winks he must be devastated that he has to leave his boyhood club which he has been at since he was 5 years old. The least you can do is give him the curtesy of allowing him the time to choose where his future lies.

It’s almost like some of our fans want to bully winks, it’s very sad tbh.

He’s a homegrown player, boyhood spurs fan, he’s always given his best for us, he’s now being told he’s not in the managers plans and is being forced out the squad and is taking his time to make the right move for him, fair enough tbh and I really wish him well.

Sure we’d like him to move asap to free up a squad space etc but he’s perfectly entitled to do what he wants at his own pace.

He has a contract with the club and loves the club and doesn’t want to leave, sure it’s probably in his best interest to leave for his career but the abuse he gets on here is very unfair, moreso than many other players who’ve gone before him.

I hope he finds a move that works for him and I wish him well. There’s a decent tidy little player there mabye in Spain or Italy or for a Southampton etc, let’s face it he’s miles better than probably all of us, he’s just not quite the level Tottenham and Conte need him to be, I’m sure he’ll do well in Italy, Spain or for a mid table PL club etc.

It takes two hands to clap. And he has been given more than 3 managers to prove himself. He did himself no favours if he really leaked dressing room unrest to the media. It's a forceful but necessary step from Conte to banish him. He should get the memo early if he's someone smart enough and not giving chances to fans to be more irritated at him.

I don’t feel sorry for anyone who’s earning 50+ thousand a week whilst some folk can’t afford to eat or heat their house this winter
I get that and it is a valid point, but the guy is human and devoted his life to the club, we cannot be sure how he will handle this period of his life, I am sure he must be suffering inside. Making loads of wonga does not negate the mental pressure of a young man who has trained to be competitive.

If income determines whether or not people deserve basic empathy, who decides the number? ~10% of the world's population lives on less than $2 a day - why should we care about people who have houses?

Some of the personal insults on here are a joke, it's as if he's shagged most of your imaginary girlfriends and your out to get him for it.

Conte has not banished him due to any other fact that he doesn't think he is good enough to play the role he wants imo no other reason
He was quite complimentary about winks after he played a few games

All the best to him, hope he gets his career back on track, don't know what's gone on behind the scenes but we just have better players in a similar role and is surplus to requirements.

Winks, there is no doubt it’s time to go as we have 4 better options.

But come on, he is not this shit championship level player some are making out.

This guy has played for England and has played over 200 times for Spurs and Spurs have been finishing in the top 6 all through this time, and in the champions league.

If not a loan, we will get about €15/20 for him and he will go to a bottom half PL team or somewhere in Serie A/La Liga.

It hasn’t worked out, but once upon a time he was highly thought of and a key player who came on to help us see out games. He once gave a MOTM performance in the Bernabeu.

So please, quit talking obscenities. He is an average player who will have a decent top flight career after this.

I feel embarrassed by our fanbase when i read the slagging off Winks gets...not as though he was a boyhood fan watching the Lilywhites from the stands at White Hart Lane like the rest of us, got the chance to live our dreams and has fallen short. Honestly, some rumours on an internet site has distorted the view of a lad who as spent a lifetime at our club and now regularly gets dogs abuse by the very fans of which he is one of.

If i was at Spurs would i want to hang on to every last hope there may be a way back? yes absolutely i would, i love this club deep in my heart and it must be killing the lad knowing he has to leave what he loves.

give your heads a wobble.

yes it's time for him to go...but lets show some class for one of our own.

This might be the rudest thing ever said about him on here tbh

Nothing embarrasses me more than seeing people go out there to slate a homegrown player who wants to stay at the club. I want him to leave because he's not really good enough for us anymore, but let's do it with a bit of grace.

FWIW, from what I heard at the time it wasn't him that was leaking bad stories to the press. Using that as a stick to beat him with seems unnecessarily harsh.

I hope one day we might be able to get a few more details on what actually did go on behind the scenes when it's less sensitive.
