Been at Spurs since a kid and may be apprehensive about leaving London, let alone the UK.

If he’s close to family, playing overseas may just not appeal.

Absolute bullshit. You don’t know the guy personally. Why say shit like this?

I mean, if we are being honest, a lot of the opinion on Harry Winks has been driven by the information being spread in similar places such as this one saying he's this rat of a human that kicks up a fuss, goes to the media when he's not getting his way, etc. It's basically created this toxic fanbase opinion of him, whether right or not, I don't know. But, I don't think it's been in the typical media formats, so this opinion of him really has originated from forums/social media where this view has kind of taken root. Correct me if I'm wrong, I just don't recall seeing it out there, and it's probably for good reason as it's more of a hit-piece that I think the more reputable outlets would avoid. But, in the end, for a vast majority now he's viewed as a shitty footballer who doesn't understand his place in the footballing world, a snake and/or just a generally shit person, and he gets absolutely treated like garbage because he won't leave.

he knows as soon as he leaves he’s set himself on a one way trip to the championship/league 1, so he’s stalling as long as he can

an absolutely useless player at literally any level. thankfully it seems we’ll never have to see him play in our shirt again
Harsh, the guy was looking a million dollars in central midfield in a transitional England side. We have improved, bought better so he looks what he is, an average mid table midfielder.

Agree.
Yes some of the reactions have been dramatic and even spiteful but maybe some of these opinions have been formed from snippets in this very site.
Maybe people should be more restrained but they are venting in the same fan forum that has helped them come to their current state of mind.

I don't particularly like the name calling and stuff but can totally understand why some have arrived at the conclusion they have.

Sadly we’re back to square one with him again. Let’s be honest, any player that doesn’t please the hive gets it.

Outrageously ridiculous slaggage, abuse, the lot. Over him not leaving for the first offer received. You’d actually cry real tears if a player you wanted upped and left with the speed required of him.

It’s HIS future, he’s entirely entitled to decide where he goes, when he goes and choose something that suits him. Now it might be frustrating if you think it has a bearing on incomings or FFP or any of the other magic things we have no real idea about, but that’s the game. Get used to it.

How any of that rates people giving him a dogs abuse I have no idea.

Absolutely. I know I'm even guilty of it. I joke about him leaving, etc. and probably more than I would for another player that I didn't view as good enough and saw as an easy upgrade within the squad. Now, I'd like to think that's all based in my view that he's simply not good enough from a footballing perspective, but I think I've probably had the personal viewpoint of him tinged a bit and makes my desire for him to leave increase. It's human nature and to a degree a mob mentality. But, the people who are basically calling him this insidious, cancerous element at our club, it seems like it's transcended from performance-related to more personal.

I mean, you just qouted news that he basically has done deal with Serie A team?? I don't know what Giampaolo is playing currently, but his style of first time at Sampdoria when they were playing with 3 man midfield and were possession based would definitely suit him. Serie A market works like that and if he won't completely flop he will get Serie A offers for next 5 years.

Also, no one should be surprised that he would prefer to stay in Premier League so can wait for few days for offers?

It's a shame it's ending like this for Winks. He may not be everyone's favorite player, he may not be good enough for us anymore either, but he is one of our own.

He definitely doesn't deserve all the abuse he's getting. Yes he's on a contract which he signed, but the club is the one who offered it to him based on his performances. He earned whatever contract he was given at the time and its his right to see it out if he chooses to.

Just because he can sit on his arse and collect his wages isn't his fault. He's not going to be selected for any of the squads going forward and he also knows he isn't wanted anymore. This is definitely going to be very hard for him to take and accept the reality for what it is.

Whatever happens, wish him all the best either way, he definitely shouldn't get getting the amount of abuse he is getting just because he's not good enough anymore.

Just like life, people change and people grow, people also get left behind when others outgrow them. We as a club have grown very rapidly in a short time and Winks just hasn't been able to grow at the same pace. This isn't his fault at all and he should be allowed some leeway as a spurs boy until he gets his move.

With Gibbs-White going for as much as £42m (!!!) I just don’t get how there isn’t more interest in Winks at £15m-£20m. We really do struggle to sell players. I know he clearly isn’t wanted by club but still.
Because he wasnt on 70k a week is my guess.

Ok. I don't post often but here goes. Harry Winks is from Hemel where I live. I've met him a few times and have friends who know him well.
He's been perfectly decent when I've seen bumped into him and other people who know him much better than me speak well of him. I've no idea how he has behaved with the media behind the scenes at Spurs, but let's be honest, Kane and his brother's behaviour last summer was hardly exemplary on that front either but we've all moved on now.

As a player we was bright and busy to begin with, and the Iniesta comparison Poch made didn't seem ridiculous. He hasn't just progressed. Injuries, changes in manager and system, lack of confidence etc etc mean its now time to move on. He may not have played well for the last year or two but in attitude he's no N'Dombele. If he's smart he will take the best available option this window, wherever that takes him. If he's waiting to see what the best option is then that's fair enough. He's far from the greatest player that's ever worn a Spurs shirt but we should just wish him well and move on. He really doesn't merit the vitriol being flung at him.

There's another story going around that Roma are interested. If that's true then he may simply be waiting to see how it develops. Jose does seem to be building something there and it might be an easier move if he knows the coach.

I wonder who the lucky player will be for the miserable mob to pour their scorn on ad infinitum once he's gone?

I think we are seeing it's PEH. They view Bissouma as better, Bentancur is still considered shiny enough to not question his selection, etc. Therefore, Pierre is keeping them from being happy.

I’m surprised if he would go to Italy, but it could be a good move to broaden his game. I get the feeling given how he has stuck around at Spurs that he would prefer to remain in England. I guess he is probably looking for the best Premier League offer he can get, if he can get it.

Royal too. Probably Lenglet if he makes one single defensive error.

The problem is people love these toxic situations. This is what Twitter/social media has done to fanbases, and it’s certainly not unique to Spurs. Everyone addicted to self-righteous anger and desperate to have an outlet to pour their hatred into. Ndombele thread was no different.
