Dear god... some of the criticisms of him today. Just... mind boggling. Yes, he has been awful this season. But fair dues, he did well today. In fact, I thought he was our best outfield player in the 1st half. He at least was putting in an effort.
I assumably watched a different game.
All for dragging him over the coals for his overall form this season. But today, he put in a shift, which I can’t say for many of our players.
Yes, he will leave this summer. But, the young man has been with Spurs since he was a kid. Let’s try to show him a modicum of respect for all of the hours and commitment he has put into his journey at Tottenham.
Just because he may not fit in anymore and has regressed, doesn’t and shouldn’t erase a lot of the good stuff he did over the years. The club means a lot to him. Just go back and think of when he scored his first goal. He’s put in the time. The hard yards. The sacrifices needed to go from an academy kid to a first team player. He is still a very young guy. And all he has ever known is Spurs. He is also a human. So, put yourself in his shoes, and think how you would feel, if you were him, and the time has come to leave the nest.
So, I’m not going to spit on him after what will very likely be his last game. Especially when you consider the above. Whether you like it or not, he is one of our own. He’s family. Let’s try to look beyond the now, and send the kid out on his next adventure with a touch of gratitude and grace.
Thank u Tiddly. Good luck on your next chapter.
