Spot on. Absolutely no chance we sell him. The guy has proven himself as a first team player under two managers now, is homegrown, and a die hard spurs fan. He's going no where.
Eh, has he? He's proven that he should be a squad player, not a starter.

Hes every bit as good , actually I think better than gundogen, wiljnaldum and Fred who all command regular spots in teams above us.

Winks has suffered from the club not trusting him to play and shoehorning him into a dm role that he isnt suited to.

Next season id be comfortable with him alongside lo celso with a dm behind them. It allows lo celso to keep getting forward and winks would be the perfect link player.

Absolutely no chance he's as good as Gundogan or Wijnaldum. Fred I have no idea but those first two are damn good players.

Agree with the sentiment, but no way is he better than Gundogan imo. Gundogan is super underrated if he's being classed in the same league as Wijnaldum and Fred (both of whom I rate actually, but Gundo is outstanding).

Anyway, as has been said before, let Winks play a bit higher up and we'll see him develop into the player we thought he'd become.

Balderdash and poppycock, sir!

Top little CM when played properly and a starter. I'm confident he will make a fair few change their minds if played alongside Hojbjerg. Or, perhaps not change them, but remind them of what he is capable of.

As is winks. Both of those are good link players which is exactly what winks is. He rarely gets tl play as one though as his at worse played as a dm and at best as one of two.

I like Winks but he is literally our only link between defence and attack. I think its no coincidence that this is the worst team we've had in terms of keeping possession over the last 5 years. He can be a great squad player but 1st 11, no chance.

Lo Celso was significantly better at it than Winks was.

He has only been a starter since injuries got to dembele and wanyama and we then had no one else don’t pretend he forced his way into that 11

My original point was that he has proven himself as a starter. How or why he got there is another debate.

He hasn’t though he hasn’t been challenged yet and when he had good competition dembele and wanyama he was a bench player so your original point is incorrect

He was a young player stepping up from the academy then though. He progressed and stepped in as others left. Proved he could play in the first 11 regularly. Whether he stays first choice remains to be seen but to deny he has proven himself is ridiculous.

As I said he has been played in a role that doesn't suit him. Put him in a three along side a DM and am attacking midfider and you will see him flourish

And this is the worst we have had for keeping possession because of one man and it isn't winks. See mourinho, jose. He wants it that way.

I think both are underated thats my point.

Imagine gundogan played in a two every week with sissoko or as the dm with lo celso. He would look just as poor as winks does at times. No he has rodri who is brilliant behind him and de bruyne next to him. All he has to do is keep the ball, link the play and put himself about. Three things winks would excel at in that role.

I respect your opinion and I hope he can surprise me. I just haven't seen him do anything that would suggest he is better with a slightly more attacking role. Rarely see him make effective forward passes to link play, poor when dribbling with the ball, no goal scoring threat. Personally I feel his best role is as a deeper midfielder, he just needs to be smarter with his positioning/decisions. He sells himself far too often as he's too eager to win the ball (a blessing and a curse)

Also I would say that we were poor with the ball for Poch's last year and a half. Nobody has been able to control the midfield since King Dembele left.

We will see what happens over the next year, I hope I can come back to this and admit you were right!

Let's hope we're better either way.

This thread makes me sad, I don't understand the logic behind the haters, I must be seeing a completely different player to the majority in here. I'd imagine Jose see's the same quality player I do, guess we'll find out once the TW has been and gone
