Really?

He wouldn’t have signed a 6 year contract if he wasn’t a fan.
Wait, you're saying all these Chelsea signings are Chelsea fans?
Was Zaha a palace fan because he kept signing improved contracts?

He signed a healthy and well paid contract, protecting him as much as the club. That doesn't make him a fan.

Don't get me wrong, Kane has been nothing but professional and I couldn't really care too much whether he's a fan or not, I just don't think signing a big contract is any indication at all.

I think in modern day football its completely unreasonable to expect that sort of loyalty.

He's been far more loyal than most and I think with all the shititude of Levy he's given us much more loyalty than we really deserved.

I don't think any criticism should fall at Harry's door personally.
I just don’t understand how he’s been loyal.

Tried to go to city, didn’t turn up to training and behaved awfully.

Next opportunity, he jumps at it.

Just because he played well doesn’t mean he was loyal to Tottenham

So, who is replacing Kane then? I still remember when my hero Gazza left and I thought I’d never get over it. I was gutted but then we replaced him with … Gordon Durie 😢

Think he’s a bit of a people pleaser these days. Works in his favour for media opportunities etc to not pin his colours to the mast so much.
His autobiography was written a long time ago, I don’t think he is a cast iron Spurs fan.

We haven’t even spared a thought for the commentators either. They used to fill 60% of our live matches talking about how Kane needs to leave. What are they going to talk about now he’s gone? Probably how we are rubbish without him 😂

The entirety of this thread should be printed, hard bound in a leather covered book, and presented to Harry upon his retirement.

He really isn’t. And I know this for a fact via my work and being in the room with his “entourage”. But I’ve realised from this thread that it’s pushing against an impossible tide to explain it and people will believe what they want. And it’s pretty irrelevant now anyway. In fact it always was. We’ve lost real boyhood spurs fans in the past (Hoddle, albeit other reasons played a part, and Teddy) so it doesn’t really matter in the end.

I think you can tell with Kane. The way he has played and carried himself on the pitch with us, and contrasting that too how he carried himself with England. He has been (mostly) professional, cold and clinical in his performances with us and cold is kind of the feeling that I have now that he is going. It definitely feels different to losing some of the other big players we’ve had over the years. This feels like the end of a professional relationship and I’m just left feeling a bit meh by the whole thing. Really strange and in some ways it feels odd not to have had a different connection with our greatest ever goalscorer

Yep. Some of them on will be on our backs immediately slagging us off. e.g. Alan Smith. One person I am surprised about is Chris Sutton - he's normally a tosser and can't wait to stick the knife in, but he has been quite positive about us and Ange on the BBC predictions for the season page

Maybe a unpopular opinion but I really hope he smashes it at Bayern, I wish him all the best and hope he wins everything.
I absolutely loved him playing for Tottenham and he’s given me a lot of great moments watching him.
He’s a true great and I’m devastated.

Good luck Harry ❤️

Harry came through the ranks and he was ours.

Berbatov, Modric, Bale weren’t ours.

That’s why it hits so hard.
That’s why Harry stayed 2/3/4 years longer than he should have done and that’s why it’s so terrible that the management of this great football club have done such an average job in the last 4 years or so that Harry couldn’t get out of the door quick enough

I’m sad for all us Tottenham supporters tonight

A legend - once in a generation footballer that the club has used and abused with no trophies to show for such an amazing homegrown talent

The most difficult thing in football is scoring goals and our owners have taken advantage of one we’ve had, for free, who scored for fun

SAD

One of the main reasons I gave up my ST after 40odd years - zero ambition from these owners

Absolute pisstakers season after season

I couldn’t give them anymore of my money and Harry couldn’t waste his time and career any longer

So angry with Levy etc - zero ambition, zero glory

Sad times that he's gone as he's been such an amazing player, but thank fuck the drama will be over.

We got some great years out of him, getting a very good fee for 1 year left on his contract, and he's moving outside of the PL.

All In all, it's probably the best outcome we could have hoped for.

Good luck in Bayern, but let's now back Ange and bring in 2 quality players at CF and CB to take the team up another level.

Not unpopular at all.

We’re lucky he stayed this long. It’s been such a shit show post Poch and even the last 2 years of his reign.
Think it’s just that nagging feeling of what could have been.

Come on this wasn't an easy decision for Kane. I'm sure he would have loved to challenge for titles here. He wanted to leave because we don't do that and showed no signs we would the last few years. Players aren't the same as fans, they have to put their career first. Many players support one club growing up but sign for their rival as a player. It's a different mindset when you're playing. I'm thankful for the memories but I'm not naive enough to think he should have stayed for life. No world class player stays at a club and wins nothing. He did a lot for us over the years and we did a lot for him. We had a great era and now we move on. It will not be the same, it will just be different. I'm just looking forward to seeing us return to what we have done best. Sign a group of young players to be coached by a man manager who plays modern day attacking football.
