Just a query, apologies if it's already been asked, but say the BM deal is off due to another team contacting Kane's representatives to say they'll pay more in 12M, have we any case with FIFA for recourse? As in they'll have done us out of £100M at least. I know these things happen all the time in football, but would love to see FIFA/UEFA actually flex a bit and enforce the rules. Wishful thinking probably.

Well technically tapping up players isn't allowed but clubs rarely make a big deal out of it for obvious reasons (eg they all do it).

I agree with your entire excellent post apart from this small bit. Of course people are going to post and react emotionally; that's what being human means.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I for one wouldn't look at any post retrospectively and judge - with the benefit of 100% accurate hindsight - whether anyone's well-intentioned emotive post about how this situation made them feel was "foolish".

Of course we worry, of course we have hopes and dreams and highs and lows. If people always acted rationally they wouldn't be human.
Thanks for the feedback. In the big picture, you are right and it almost wasn't included. at the same time, there are some people in here who have quite a bit of pride and i was trying to appeal to that in an effort to reduce the certainty some of the posts had which is why this thread became such a downer. cheers and COYS.

Don't see why that would have a bearing on anything. It would simply be one party breaking off from a negotiation over a sale, before that sale was completed.

All good points and as I say, just a minor thing. I applaud your efforts.

Do people still believe that in the midst of a protracted and fluid situation, the club are telling the website people to start updating pictures of players in shirts?

Kane is still on the website in a shirt btw… so he’s staying?
My best mate worked in a senior marketing role at a PL club and this type of thing definitely does happen. My opinion is that it's precautionary and they don't know too much more than us though.

I work in comms and absolutely when things develop behind the scenes you start quietly updating your collateral and website.

Richy isn’t injured, he’s confirmed it’s fake news!
Who said it was fake news?

Really hope he isn't out as this would make the Kane deal going through a bit easier to take for our Brentford preperation and would take the pressure off the speed of the need for spending the Kane money a bit on e.g. Orban and Eze or whatever the plan is.

Don't you dare forget Erik Lamela :cautious:

Chadli was useful for a while and we sold him at a profit when he became a top three most expensive signing for WBA. Same thing with Mason (1st) to Hull and Wimmer (2nd) to Stoke, back when we knew when and how to sell players at good prices.

That’s different though … if a Marketing dept starts hedging I can understand, but for people on Twitter to flag this as ‘news’ implies something that isn’t there. He may stay, he may go, but we aren’t going to find out via banners on the club shop
