I don't think fans can be too precious about players honouring their commitments and respecting the club when they're also happy to disrespect and boo players like Sanchez and Royal and demand that the club sell any players they deem to be unworthy, even if they've been loyal servants for years.

Not saying you've personally done that to those players, but the double standards from a big section of our fanbase when it comes to loyalty are huge. So many fans demand fully loyalty from the players but offer absolutely none in return.
Double standards are inevitable from something so tribal.

Why would that be delicious? I don't get this bitterness at all.

I mean statistically anything is possible. I could run into Beyonce tomorrow, she could fall in love with me and we could be married by next Friday. Probably not the most likely thing though.

Similarly, we could be about to win some trophies. Our 2 trophies in the past 30 years suggests its not that likely. Our trajectory in the past few years suggests likewise. I can't be bothered to count the number of trophies Bayern have in that same time period but Bayern have 3 CLs and 1 UEFA cups in the same time period.

People seem to be genuinely surprised that a top sportsman, one of the best players in his position, wants to win trophies and that its all media driven. I assume they think that people go to the olympics to come 6th or the world cup to lose the 3rd place play-off.
I’m not bitter at all. I would wish him a happy and content life in Germany. But if he moved to win trophies and chose the big club who win the most trophies and then they didn’t win trophies then there is a delicious irony in that.

Totally agree with this. It's that dastardly witch Fickle rearing her ugly head again!

Mabb’s stood outside office taking photos with everyone. Proper club man 👏👏👏
Love mabb's, calls my old man every year to ask how he's doing since one of his best friends LT season ticket holder passed away recently. As you say proper club man, full respect to Mabb's!

Enjoy the game mate and wave goodbye to Harry from us.

Apologies if this has been shared before, but I think there are some interesting points here that he makes far more eloquently than I have attempted to earlier in this thread, including about the different impact that Kane and Richy can have in Ange's system (obviously within the context that it was our first game under him).

Anyway, just thought it was a pretty good video and I think it also helps that it comes from a neutral / non-Spurs analyst.

Are there any waving experts at the game today? We're going to need to know the difference between a 'see you next week' wave, and a 'it's been emotional, but I just love bratwurst' wave.

Might be confusing if he's seen crying. Could be goodbye or could be because he has to stay.

The only way he should be playing today for any longer than ten or fifteen minutes at the end is if he’s staying. If he’s leaving, then fine give him a little bit of time to get some cheers and what not.

I genuinely wish him all the best, grateful for all he’s done and hope he smashes it in Germany, but this isn’t a testimonial, it’s our pre season and if he isn’t going to be here then we need to work on cohesion and hitting the ground running with the players who will actually be here. If he gets 15-20 mins at the end then fine, nice touch. However what do we get out of potentially just playing a Bayern player in one of our last chances to knit the team together before the season starts…

This idea that not playing him is some sort of bitterness is nuts, if he’s not our player let’s play the players who still are going to be after next week.
